It's been bugging me to no end playing Muscovy to have my units named "1st Army", "2nd Army", etc. when there is the great system of constructing army names through the formula <province name where unit formed> + <word for army in that language>. I remember fondly forming the "Salzburg Orda" as the Ottomans (having reformed the unit deep in Austrian territory), and deploying them in India, Africa, etc. It doesn't really add anything gameplay wise, but it'd be a nice touch to add that doesn't take a whole lot of time.

I like the idea, though I would say it might take a bit longer that you would think, especially with "<word for army in that language>." part. There is around 65 culture groups in game currently, which most of them contain not actually mutually understandable languages, nowadays dead languages, and languages that did not even have a word for the army.

I only start getting "1st Army", "2nd Army" if I have more armies than custom name combinations, usually during wartime with lots of splitting and merging.

...But of course, you can rename armies yourself, and there are plenty of online resources for discovering names for armies in various languages. Myself, I like to name them based on their peacetime station or intended purpose ("Flanders Expeditionary Guard", etc).

What would be best is if there was an addon/DLC/feature whereby there was a Fleet/Army namer tool.

You should be allowed to create a number of patterns for names, based on some variables.

For instance:

[1st] Army - would create armies using 1st, 2nd, 3rd, e.g. 3rd Army
Korps - would create armies named 'Korps' using Roman numerals.
[Continent] Korps - would create I N. American Korps, II Afrikan Korps, etc.
[1st] [Province] Army - creates armies named for provinces with cardinal numbering: 1st London Army
[National] Army - creates armies using national adjective: I Dutch Army
[1st] [Trooptype] Corps - creates corps using the predominant troop type: 1st Cavalry Corps, 1st Infantry Corps, 1st Artillery Corps

Same with fleets, with, specifically, the addition of "Trade Zone" as a possible variable:

I English Fleet
London Carracks
1st Venice Galleys
II Caribbean Frigates

Of course, the player can always change the name, but this at least allows a pattern for default naming which the player can control.
