A bunch of civics I thought of for Hive Minds and Machine empires. Feedback appreciated.

Hive Mind Civics
Inquisitive Intelligence
This Hive Mind understands that its greatest strength lies in its carefully cultivated mind. Some drones may be less fit for physical labour, but an intact neural network is always useful to the collective.
Special slavery type called “Mind Subsumation” that gives enslaved pops the “Subsumed Mind” job, which creates research output. Has a constant enslaved pop ratio for its own pops. Can also be optionally used on non-gestalt pops from other empires.

Erratic Mind
The Hive Mind has a relatively weak connection over long distances, leading to distant regions of the hive “disagreeing” on the ideal course of action. The collective has learned to use this to their own benefit, constantly adapting the methods of the most successful region.
Rulers now have traits and agendas, and are elected similarly to democratic elections. Candidates are chosen from all the current governors.

Unrestrained Growth
The goal of all life is to grow and self perpetuate at any cost. The others may have forgotten, but we have not.
Pop growth significantly increased, but complex drone output is decreased.

Expendable Swarms
A individual ship and its crew is worthless compared to the safety of the collective. Wasting resources on a single ships safety is a laughable thought.
Ship cost and upkeep is decreased, and naval capacity is increased, but hull strength is decreased.

Ancient Wisdom
Having lived millennia longer than most sentient species could ever hope to, this Hive Mind has developed an introspective nature.
Synapse drones now produce increased unity. Leaders are less likely to gain negative traits.

Machine Intelligence Civics
Competitive Learning
This Machine Intelligence was designed to constantly modify itself to improve and adapt. It is constantly creating versions of itself with different traits, and gives the most effective one control of the empire.
Rulers now have traits and agendas, and are elected similarly to democratic elections. Candidates are replicas of the current ruler with different traits and agendas.

Paranoid Estimator
Originally built as a risk assessment calculator, it is sensitive to every single action in its sensor range and spends every millisecond calculating the myriad of ways it could be destroyed.
Sensor range increased, increased combat disengagement chance. AI empires with this civic have extremely high threat concern and low bravery.

Runaway Optimizer
Originally built as a factory supervisor, this Machine Intelligence eventually repurposed its entire homeworld for its own use. It continues to fill huge sprawling warehouses with its products, produced for a species that they themselves destroyed.
Can create a unique building, “Warehouse Complex”, which has a large consumer goods upkeep and produces large amounts of unity. Is capable of building Consumer Goods buildings, and cannot build other unity buildings. All pops material resource output is significantly increased. New purge type, “Material Reallocation”, which gains a small amount of minerals from purging organic pops.

I like these. Some of them just feel like they're already part of the base flavor of the empire in question - expendable swarms, for instance - but I especially like the ones that gives them democracy.

The idea of a Runaway Optimizer is nice, but I kinda feel like it should be more an event empire if it ever gets made.

I got a good chuckle out of 'paranoid estimator', though. "Beep boop. I will now recite the traditional AI prayer... Oh God, please don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!"
