(...) one has to only look at what happened nearly 30 years later to see to see that the other powers were absolutely right to be scared of russia
Yeah, after Germany launched yet another war of agression against it. I'd say that the ones who were in their right to be paranoid about their borders' integrity were not the Germans, but the Russians.
the how doesn't take away from the what, a big guy that everyone tries to tackle before he has his shoes on is still a big guy
if I recall correctly then part of the reason brittain apeased the germans is because they planned on german assistence against the soviets
And? Are we now justifying the launching of "preventive" wars? In both cases the ones who launched the wars were the Germans, not the Russians. If we consider "prevention" as a valid reason for starting wars, then it's pointless to talk of "blame" in either case. Hence, it would've been perfectly okay for Poland and France to invade Germany in 1933 or 1934, or for the USSR to invade Poland in the b1930s, et cetera. All in the name of prevention.
I don't understand this - you're talking about pre-WWII? As far as I'm aware, Britain had no expectation of conflict with the Soviet Union.if I recall correctly then part of the reason brittain apeased the germans is because they planned on german assistence against the soviets

From reading the British government's archives from 1936-39, they weren't the slightest bit worried about a war with the Soviet Union, and had no plans for such a war. Their assessment of Soviet military power was that in an offensive war, they wouldn't be able to deploy more than about 30 divisions without their economy collapsing.
(Hitler, of course, made a similar underestimate of the USSR's military power; but it was more serious in his case because he actually was planning to invade them.)
Inasmuch as they were worried about the Soviets at all, it was their propaganda and covert support stirring up revolution elsewhere that scared them; and maybe the possibility of the Soviets invading one of the tiny countries around their periphery (which would be about all their army could handle).
That's why, in the summer of 1939 when they were trying to construct an anti-Nazi alliance in Eastern Europe and discovered that Poland would flatly refuse to be part of the same alliance as the USSR, they decided it would be more valuable to get Poland on board.
Seems like a balanced representation of main WW I participants. Obviously Italian campaign looks a bit odd one out, but I guess developers wanted to showcase one of the minor players among good guys. You play as a:
African-american US soldier in France
British tank driver in France
US fighter pilot in France
Italian soldier in the Alps
Arab woman who fights alongside Lawrence of Arabia in the Middle East
Anzac soldier at Gallipoli

Its for the mass market and that market gives a dam about obscure countries like Serbia or Romania.
Personally I find it more weird that there is no Rusian soldier involved.

I thought that my sarcasm about blatant anglo-american centrism was obvious, but apparently notTwo Americans, an Arab woman, but no Frenchmen...?
