While playing a HSR game as Italy this evening I noticed that Germany has 266 divisions - and it's only May 10, 1940! Is this intentional? I'm playing on normal difficulty settings. The Soviet Union has only 207 divisions - and if this buildup of Germany continues, I highly doubt that they'll be able to withstand the German attack when it comes in 1941. Not to mention the poor French...

They have 287 in my game now, my poor 48 division BEF deployed along the Meuse and into Holland was slaughtered, and after the Germans reached Reims I decided it was best to run back to Calais and hop onto a boat. But I like a challenge, it should be good fun trying to retake france and I can't wait to see barbarossa.

I notice that there is a ton of AI only events that create Armies for Germany.

In fact, there are a lot of AI events for creating Armies for most of the majors. I suspect it's to make up for the AI's deficencies, and to make the game more challenging all in all.

My game has gone from the surreal to the erm... league of gentlemen... its gone totally erm... mad =/

Germany had broken the Soviets... I mean smashed them to little pieces...they had Vladivostoc, the province next to it, the Chamkayatka pennisula and a few provinces far northern Siberia... a total economy of what... 20 factories? If that?

I invaded Europe through Brest with about 40 divisions (their immense army of several hundred divisions never bothered to come back to Europe to save their homeland... yet 135 of them stayed on the Finnish border to hold my 60 divisions which had been stationed there for over 3 years) within 9 months I'd liberated all of Europe creating countries on the way (and of course being left with a handful of provinces that don't fit into any country) but... when the event for the Nazi's surrender happened (might I add that Hitler was no longer the head of state for Germany after I liberated the FGR) Russia suddenly got all my newly liberated eastern European provinces... and I ended up at war with the soviets and had to break all my newly freed states (oh and the FGR annexed Czech (AGAIN!) lol) I'm now fighting my way back through the USSR (about 40% of which is rebelling - Belorussia and Khazakstain have decalared independance)

Other oddities:

The USA and Japan have been at war for years, America is fighting Japan only on the Chinese mainland.

Japan, Siam and Khazak (with Belorussia before I annexed it) are in an alliance against me... for some reason... I was never at war with Japan...

The USA recently declared war on the Soviets and is fighting yet another solo war...

Indeed...and it is extremely boring I might add. The SU ai seems to do nothing while the germans continously beef up the wehrmacht.

In my game as USA Germany has an army of 360! units consisting of around 250 inf. It has exhausted all its manpower and is still churning out inf. USSR has 240 units and has also exhausted its manpower (which I tought was almost impossible :D).
Japan has taken and annexed Nat.China but seems to have trouble with Com.China and the two upper lefties. Seems like the AI wont attack with its 100+ divisions against some 10 units  . This is really bad and I hope the 1.3 patch will put an end to this.

I once brought my unit building ability to agrinding halt as Germany, only after having churned out 180 Infantry Divs, 40 Armoured Divs, 20 Mech and 20 Motorized, 20 Mountain, 12 Marine and 8 Airborne. Not to mention close to 100 U-Boats.

Must say it took a toll on my oil supply, even after taking over Hungry, Romania and forcing Russia to bitter peace (I got Baku and other Caucasus provs).

Should be about 150-160 , which was historical ( on normal ), 287 would be ok on very hard
