Chapter VI: The breakthrough
On the 13th of September (note the awfully slow progress compared to RL), the German forces crush through the Belgian lines and reach all the way to Brussels. The German flag was raised to the place of the old flag, as the capital of Belgium switched hands.
The first changes to the original plan were simple: the continental possessions of Belgium should be wiped out before turning to the French. This way, we can spare more troops against France and only small coastal garrisons are required (to prevent any UK landing attempts).
Similar progress was made in the east; we were constantly nearing the borders defined by the military command, and some of the Russian divisions have arrived at the front too. Some extra divisions were sent to the northern parts, as it was the weakest part of our otherwise solid front.
Still, Germany would need allies to win this war. A valid candidate was the Ottoman Empire, who had their grudges against the Balkan states and who would never refuse extended control over Africa. Thus two German battleships, HMS Goeben and Breslau, were given as a gift to the Ottomans for their participation. The negotiations for a secret Ottoman entry to the war started, and hopefully would be concluded soon.
