Now here's the thing: Germany is swimming in energy.
When i build lots of IC, especially if using CGM, it doesn't feel that you "swim in energy". Which version do you refer to? I play TFH 4.02 and with approximately 250+ IC (?!) i have to cancel some trades to save energy for myself. So to rely on energy-to-crude-conversion might work in most of MP situations, but not in all SP variants, i think. Did you ever try this? I mean did you ever have lots of IC and let your crude stockpile running to zero while let's say Barbarossa is still running? How long can you last?

Just because the crude is at zero, doesn't mean you don't convert anything to fuel, you just refine all you got. Germany has some oil itself, buys some from Romania and convert some energy. While this is not enough in the long run it help restock the fuel which should be at 50K+ or something.

Never said that.

you just refine all you got
I wanted to ask you if this amount is sufficient to last a long war (41+)

While this is not enough in the long run it help restock the fuel which should be at 50K+ or something.
Ah, here we go. That matches what i wanted to say. If you can reach all your goals in short time, you are fine without buying lots crude. If not, you might get (the really historical problem) the problem of running out of fuel because energy-to-crude-to-oil-conversion is not sufficient. I never managed to have a long lasting war vs SU, but perhaps some you can get a look at the "Blitz Carnage" thread. CptEasy is a high skilled player and he is trying to beat Zid as SU. Their battle lasted for weeks now. Perhaps you can see from his screenshots with what amount of crude/fuel he started Barbarossa and guess the amount of troops he has. Keep in mind that he is supposed to have a lot of mobile reserve hidden from the screenshots and lots of troops saving the western front. This might give you a good advice and orientation.

In most of my games I buy around 5-10 crude from '36 and never hit zero even if I need a second year to take out the Soviets. So I'm disqualified for answering the enough question in this form.
Buying that little and plundering the various minors for their stockpile should be enough. 10 crude a day for 2000 days ('36 to ~mid '41) amounts to 20000 oil, the big winners are the Dutch, Belgium and French stockpiles.

I haven't build any factories for Germany in years, since they don't need it. However, if you're playing TFH, switching from Consumer Production Orientation to Mixed Industry ASAP will make building a lot easier.

for those of you who are wondering just what numbers of divisions I have, there is a complete OOB in 1939, just prior to the start of the war. It might be interesting to look ahead. Mind you to take the added importance of AT-brigades into account and make sure to keep at least 1 Anti-tank-type (AT/TD) per corps just in case.

Do you mean to example add a AT/TD to an infantry division instead of the artillery or do you mean that we should produce a dedicated AT division in each corps?

The TFH divisions should contain at least 2 different types of support units to max the combined arms modifier, more AT and Eng than you used in the old days.

Could you please give an example of such divisions? I mean for example the basic infantry squads here seems to be 3x infantry 1x artillery. How should I build them instead?

Examples:
Inf, Inf, AT, Art
Inf, Inf, Eng, Art
Inf, Inf, AAA, AC

note the colours in the build window, don't take two of the same type except inf, para, mar, mot, mech (did I forget any basic type?)

Arm, Mot, Eng, M-Art

Do you mean to example add a AT/TD to an infantry division instead of the artillery or do you mean that we should produce a dedicated AT division in each corps?

He means put AT where the Arty would be for a div per corps. You can't have a "dedicated AT division". Well, you could, but it would never ever fight. Support units have no frontage.

So Inf, Inf, Inf, AT instead of Inf, Inf, Inf, Art for one of them per corps.

The TFH divisions should contain at least 2 different types of support units to max the combined arms modifier, more AT and Eng than you used in the old days.

Giving up the strength of a second combat unit for an extra few % bonus seems like bad math. If it held true, only a single Inf would be even better, which it isn't. 2x INF divs with two support won't fight as long before needing rest, at the very least. 3xINF is better and more powerful, in my experience. You can always stick an extra support on your most important divs when you unlock that fifth brigade.

That's for infantry divisions specifically, mind.

marines, mountaineers and paratroopers should remain pure: 3*mar, 3*mtn or 3*para to avoid diluting their terrain specialty.

Another quick question. I have huge problems turning Austria towards NSDAP. I did do fairly good at the start going up to 12% fairly quickly but now in August '36 they have declined down to 6%. I also checked through austria eyes so the numbers are correct. Is this normal or am I just unlucky?

perhaps their own spies at home are supporting the ruling party. Try to switch to killing them off for a few weeks and see if that makes any difference.

I did try that. I also checked from their PoV and they don't support there own party at all. Now I'm at 8% in December 1 1936, not sure what I should be at for this plan to work but it feels highly unlikely

what priorities do you use? Normally i do only support our party at full pri and austria send spies at full pri. Anschluss always early. i dont pay much attention to how actual numbers evolve though.

Don't forget that organisation's (which spies improve) impact on popularity (which you see from spy info) takes place one month later. Also super organisation will not result in super popularity within 1 or 2 months. Just monitor your spies in Austria so they remain always 10 and it should happen early.
