Brandenburg is the best for the military bonuses, expecially if you form Prussia. Otherwise Bavaria and Saxony are good Diplomatic Germany runs as well.

Play as Poland, join HRE before PU Lithuania, then either unite HRE, or annex TO, culture shift to Prussian culture and then tag switch to Prussia and Germany. On top of that get PU with Bohemia, Brandenburg and Hungary via Polish mission tree. And don’t forget to go on rampage in Russian region. Sounds like a fun Großdeutschland run to me.

Poland really does make the best Germany.

Culture shift to Prussia Asap. Don't form the commonwealth. Go protestant or reformed. Take out both The Ottomans and Russia and form Prussia. Don't touch german culture provinces yet.

Get all your mission pus. Get France in a PU and whoever else you can get using sejm mechanics.

Once you get the nationalism cb disband the HRE and go ham on German culture provinces. Easy life. Super Germany.

By 1460 you've got Bohemia and Hungary in PUs.

The problem I see with this plan is that you are significantly delaying forming Germany.

I went ahead as Brandenburg. My god, i'm in a tight spot. Austria is a monster. Originally allied to me, I went Protestant and angered them. I have got Muscovy in a PU but they are rebellious because they're huge and I'm quite tiny lol. But Austria is Defender of the faith, and I can't attack anyone without them stomping on me. They are huge. Over 1100 dev by 1570.

austria can easily run away with the game if they get lucky. especially if they get the burgundy inheritance they can become an unstoppable monster.
