Germany is still the main character in the Hearts of Iron 4,right?

Gravity is actually a very weak force compared to electromagnetic and the nuclear forces. Otherwise that small magnet would not be able to lift those nails off the table.

Sad to see that Japan isn't seen as a proper character.
To me the sidekicks of Germany are Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
(no argument about the comic relief though :p)

I never paid too much attention in Science class when they talked about physics, and even I know that gravity is not the only force that keeps stuff together.
There are things like the Strong Force that prevent tiny atoms disintegrating. Or something like that. As I said, it's not my favourite subject.

Italy was probably the country that performed the worst in the Axis...
Oh boy! I few years back in one of the HOI forums, I cannot remember which one - every time Italy's poor performance in the war was mentioned, some American of Italian descent would jump all over that and argue the point to the death that the Italian soldiers were just as good as any other nation, it was just their poor leadership that made them perform so badly. It was to the point that you couldn't even mention it or you would be inundated with links, arguments, facts etc. I don't think anyone said the soliders were poor quality, just that Italy did not do well at all - that was enough though. YIKES!

Anyhow, RisingSun- Cat - isn't the HOI series banned in the PRC?

Yeah about the Japan as a sidekick thing . . nahh. To me that's too belittling of their contribution and willingness to fight. Hungary and Italy as a sidekick yeah, but not Japan.

it does.

The reason we aren't one big smudge of rotating matter is other forces are unbinding it, and doing a great job at it too :)

Back to op. Are u using google translate?

Italy was probably the country that performed the worst in the Axis...

The best quote/story I heard was when the German general staff were discussing what Italy would do, they said something along the lines of:
It would take 5 divisions to hold them back but 40 to back them up.

such as Activision's game "Call of Duty" EA game "Medal of Honor" and "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"

UK and USA too Protagonist , feel GER too Weak ,unexpectedly fight 6 year !

More Show Allies also stupid also weaker than Germany,

Yes, but then you also have those games "Company of Heroes 2" and "Men of War" that is set on east front, between Germany and Soviets, with no UK or USA in the game. They are also fun to play. I think Germany will be protagonist in most games, since it fought on so many fronts. Only Pacific WW2 games would lack Germany i think. And ofc who started the bloody war anyway? (John Cleese quote)

Germany is, of course, still the protagonist of this tragedy. This game is meant to be apolitical, so there is no harm of thinking of Germany as the "good guys", this is helped by the fact that they are perceived as the underdogs, as the man vs. world type of hero. Moreover, they lost the war, meaning that more people are interested in changing history instead of simply recreating it, this means that they are the most played country and hence has/will receive(ed) a lot of developer attention. This also means that they are going to be stronger than they historically were; since it is not that fun watching, as the USA or USSR, Germany being held to a bloody stalemate with France and Britain like what happened in WW1.

Hearts of Iron 4 is the long-awaited sequel to the award-winning drama "Hearts of Iron 3".

Germany is a strapping 22-year-old man who wants to woo France and be the cool kid in Europe (their home town) but is stopped by his egotistical and controlling brother, England, who wants France for himself. The two brothers "declare war" and their friends join the fight. Eventually, several friends from either side have called it quits, when a new kid on the block, "Russia", forms a new gang of the old friends of Germany and England. England talks to Russia and the two agree to join forces to stop Germany. England wins France, but loses most of his friends to the victorious Russia. Germany develops a multiple personality disorder and tries to be friends with both England and Russia while trying to pretend he was never interested in France. The title "Hearts of Iron" references how the three boys' hearts turn cold when they forget about France and just beat each other up.

I get the feeling that the translation software being used by the Original Poster is somehow misinterpreting when it states the word "protagonist".

But what I get from your posts, Rising Sun, is that you feel that Germany does not have enough events or other items that grant it the same level of "character" that other nations have. In example, the text of the event "Tora! Tora! Tora!" for Japan, or others that give you at least some vague sense of what those countries' people were feeling and why they went to war.

Germany doesn't have much of these things in the game because of the nature of the Nazi beliefs, their reason to go to war, and the things they did to those they conquered. Its a very sensitive topic, particularly in Europe, and that is why there are no events or text that explain any of the atrocities that were committed, or even more benign (relatively speaking) things they did with labor camps or rounding up factory workers and moving them around the Reich and its occupied territories.

Does that help you?
