I just concluded my first 'Operation Sealion', and it was a success! Yeah for me. :)

At any rate, as I look at the couple divisions I have sitting in Belfast, I can't help but wonder do I really want to waste the convoy + escort resources keeping them supplied? I got to thinking, why not just give it to Ireland? Maybe they'll thank me and join the alliance. :) Hey, it worked for Hungary when I gave them Slovakia..eventually. I noticed I couldn't cede to Ireland's territorial demands on the diplomacy screen, however. They still see it as an issue to deal with Great Britain.

Could this perhaps be related to the fact that I can't yet seem to puppet Great Britain? For whatever reason, conquering the entire British Isles (including Belfast) is insufficient to puppet Great Britain! Call me kooky but that seems... well, kooky. I can only assume that it might have something to do with the fact that the Brits managed to make hay in the Med when I stopped controlling the Italians while I focused my efforts on handling 'Sealion'. (Stupid Italian AI, I say, in my best Homer Simpson voice)

Input, anyone?

You'll have to capture some more of their vp provinces. just open up the ledger(f6) and goto the screen where it tells who owns what provinces and it will tell you what vp provinces the UK still has. And if you want Belfast to goto Ireland just bring Ireland into the axis before you puppet the UK

The Brittish Victory Points are scattered over the map, so you'll need to have half the globe in order to Annex it. There are points in Egypt, India, Birma, Hong Kong, Gibraltar, etc.

It can be done, but puppeting / annexing the UK is more of a crown on my work then a realistic part of my strategy in let's say '39.

Getting Japan into the axis can really help. They will almost always overrun India and of course sharing techs will help them alot. You will risk the chance of them dragging you into a war with the US but once you're already at war with the US, that obviously won't make a difference

Stupid pesky Churchill, setting up shop in India. :)

While it doesn't seem realistic to be unable to create a puppet UK while holding all the home territories (c'mon, are you going to tell me that from the whole island/s I couldn't pull a JFC Fuller out of a hat or something? :p ), it certainly does make for spicy gameplay. :) Britains everywhere encouraged by the triumphs of their remaining field armies over the bumbling Iti's to carry on the struggle until final victory..

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Yea, I guess it wouldn't too unrealistic to create an event for britain that's similar to the bitter peace event for the soviet union but a couple key colonies would have to be occupied too to make the event trigger

That would be unrealistic in my opinion. The UK had the Commonwealth behind them (Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand) plus India. Churchill vowed to fight on regardless because he knew that the UK could fight on from those places. Those were strong ties which were unique at that time - no one else had ties like that around the world.

I was thinking about that too. What about if Australia and Canada and South Africa are annexed by the axis? and the British isles are overran? I've seen it happen before but it would probably have a pretty low chance of happening.

Then the Monroe Doctrine triggers and the USA is at war with the axis. I think that if the Axis managed to pull off all those annexations, the war is pretty much over, as the SU is dead too. I wouldn't care about puppeting the Brits then.

Just get the New Order event pack. The puppeting problem is solved, and you also get an option to award Ireland Ulster.

I always have to get St. John's Island east of Canada's Atlantic coast. After I got all of Great Britain their capital moves there. I got all VPs (even Hong Kong, Singapur etc. as Germany) but i needed that 0 VP island, cause their capital moved there by an event and you need all VPs + Capital to annex. I cant even puppet them without St. John's taken. Btw. USA always DoWs me as soon as i occupy large parts of Great Britain. So taking an island with troops supplied at the Azores at best (huge log. dist.) + amphibious landing is quite hard. All of this happend in C.O.R.E. (don't play vanilla at all)
