Germany used 400+ Czech 38(t)'s tanks in the invasion of France. Germany got these main assets with the Czech takeover. Watching the WWW's I did not see this happen when Germany took Czech and freed Slovakia. I really think paradox needs to implement this. When a nation capitulates the resources should go to the victor of coarse, like it historically did. Tanks, Infantry weapons, artillery pieces, etc.. I think this will bring much depth to the game.

Not sure how equipment capturing works, but it is a feature!

I did notice that Johan had some equipment from Belgium in the latest WWW episode. I doubt they would have sent him lend lease? So maybe your allies can capture some equipment if you surrender?

Germany acquired no Pz38t's when it occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939, as none had come off the production lines as yet. They were however designed and Germany used Czech factories to produce them. Germany acquired about 200 Pz35t's in the occupation. The Pz38t was a more advanced light tank than the PzII but is not in the tech tree, meaning it needs to be added or treated as a better variant of the PzII tech. If treated as a variant of the PzII tech, we could expect to see PzII's cease production in game in 1939 when they actually remained in production until 1942.

There is no captured equipment in the game for release and there isnt the pz38t for germany either. In game terms the pzII has the same stats as the equally placed czech tank, so there would be no point in giving them to germany from an gameplay standpoint. Tank names and models are only flavor, in the end the medium_tank 1 is the same for every nation, with the exception of the stat altering by the country specific desiging companies like porsche, henschel, MAN, Skoda, Renault etc.

Statwise the Scharnhorst is identical to the King George Class with the exception of the variation by the two companies, indicated by the little arrows for example, as seen in an earlier WWW episode. Same applies to the rest of the vehicles and equipment in the game.

I bet that after the Czec war an event will come and say "use the equipment" or "scarp them for metal". That's just my thoughts not what will or might happen.

he could mean the supply depot located in the capital being taken over. As far as we know there wont be capturing equipment itself in the release version of the game.

I would swear I have read that once a country surrenders, you get a part of its pool of equipment. Perhaps we are talking about different things: one thing is the pool of equipment an another thing is the equipment your units have. I think you get the POOL, not the equipment already in units (which is a bit of a nonsense, if it works that way).

By the way, the germans should get checz tanks, as they did irl. In fact, they used them (P 35ts) not just for France but also for Barbarossa. In the game equipment is there for flavour, as every Model I tank is the very same across all countries, but that doesnt mean they cant get P35t out of the annexation.

i read that you get the supplies in the supply depot located in the capital of an country added to yours. The informations i have from the developers (from this forum and twitter) is that there wont be captured equipment in the game for launch. I didnt read anything mentioning the opposite yet, but things might have changed by now, who knows.

My guess is that they want to balance it somehow, because otherwise one nation can easiely snowball completly out of controll.

I can see this helping the nations of the game at the beginning of the war, but once production gets really going in the year say 1942, then I don't see it as being as helpful anymore. The only exception I can see would be Japan or Italy grabbing a bunch of things to help them out, since their production is low.

I understand Germany transferred to their allies, and used some foreign equipment themselves such as the French tanks, and airplanes that they captured. But the real bonus for Germany in the war when it comes to capturing a nation, was the French oil stockpile. This was enough to power the entire Russian campaign for the first year. Unfortunately due to oil being set as production only, and there being no resource stockpiles, this cannot happen in game with the current mechanics. The only way to do it now would be to make some event, or focus that allows Germany to have a set amount of free oil for a one year time period after France collapses.

@edowie @No idea @Leinad965 @The Albatross Okay, Daniel aka Da9L confirmed that captured equipment is actually in now. He built tank divisions with captured equipment exclusively, but planes and ships cant be captured, only equipment. I guess we will see more features that were originally not planned for the initial release in the game, due to the delay.

Later? well I guess we could remove it from the game if you want to ;)
I just made a tank division without any of my own equipment.

Oh well, I guess that means that despite historical facts, the 1st Siege of Tobruk will never happen due to gameplay programming.
After all, without the capture of substantial Italian supplies, weapons, guns and ammunition - the Commonwealth Forces under the command ot MAJ GEN Morshead might have never prevailed.
Another case of modder action required.

Hey everyone,
For this second i might be the newest member of the forum, but aswell i am a true fan of hearts of iron. I´ve played HOI3 for many hundreds of hours and since i heard of the soon comming HOI4, i have been trying to catch every bit of information about it, just like all of you i guess :D. However, i´d like to take the chance to bring in my opinions on the game into the discussion in order to make it even more interesting and maybe even get answers to my questions from the awesome developers themselves.

Captured equipment is great news, for it adds a little more realism to the game and it also is a very much fun thing to achieve i think:)
But the one -and nearly only- thing i´d like to complain about is the equality in stats of different units from different nations. How DARE u to equalize the stats of a -for example Tiger or Kingtiger- and a for example british or maybe even japanese heavy tank o_O?! xD i think, and i hope u guys feel the same, that this has to be fixed. Don´t get me wrong;), i don´t want the game to be like really unbalanced but cmon, the developers said they wanna give us the chance to modify and specialize our country and army to make it like really feeling "special" or "your own stuff".

Greetings, Dojo the Great

Greetings, Dojo the Great

Welcome to our friendly forum!

Different nations apparently have different Tech teams that give Bonus and/or Malus to the base models.
So even if the base model Heavy Tank has the same characteristics for all countries, the actual tanks will not have it.
So a Swedish Heavy tank will not have the same stats as a Tiger.

Different nations apparently have different Tech teams that give Bonus and/or Malus to the base models.
So even if the base model Heavy Tank has the same characteristics for all countries, the actual tanks will not have it.
So a Swedish Heavy tank will not have the same stats as a Tiger.

Ah ok, that seems like a good thing :) together with the manual modifications made with earned army experience this should be fine
