I'm quite new to Darkest Hour and WIF 2 Gold.
I googled but I couldnt find any strategyguide. Please link one to me if one is available.
I have a few questions:

1. You are supposed to play Germany starting in 1933 in WIF 2, right?
So if you want to play another nation, you should choose DH Full instead of WIF 2 ?

Even on normal Germany starting in 1933 is much harder than in HoI 2, AoD or HoI 3.
I like to play these games only going the historical route.
And start the wars against the different countries when they historically happened.
I have some strategy questions:

2. As Germany starts with alot of dissent around 50 I think.
Do you think it's better to reduce it at once or start building at once?
There are two decisions you can get early "Economic Recovery Plan" and "Issue Mefo Bills", that you need 500 money each to enact.
So maybe the best is to max consumer goods until you have 1000 money before you start building.

3. It's tempting to start build IC. As it is many years until the war starts.
What do you think is a good amount to build? In my test runs I think I need to start upgrading and building divisions in 1936 to have a chance to break France.

4. How are you supposed to do with diplomacy?
Are you supposed to invite Japan, Italy, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria through the diplomacyscreen or that will happen through event/descisions?
If you need max relations for it, you need to spend alot of money, with the decision "diplomatic campaign" before the war.

5. It seems to me that Germany is limited by IC and not by manpower as they are in the other (HoI 2, AoD, HoI 3). Because you get alot of manpower when you mobilize.
Do you think it's so? Or you think it's worth waiting to wait to longer the conscription and doing recruitment campains?

6. How do you handle the airdefence of Germany. I noticed the new airscramble mission it seems efficient but it has a very short range.
Do you use that or the airsuperiority mission?

7. How many divisions do you need ?
It seems you need around 150 divisions september 1939 and around 200 in may 1940.
Do you think this number is too high or too low and how many will you need in the summer of 1941 ?

8. Upgrading costs quite alot. Do you think its better to build new infantry instead of upgrading the old?
Do you think its worth running long lines of older stuff (i guess they lose the gearingbonus when you upgrade them) ?

9. You have some decisions to make. Regarding the airforce and navy and industry.
What do you think is best to choose there?

9. You have some decisions to make. Regarding the airforce and navy and industry.
What do you think is best to choose there?

1) You can play as one of the majors in WIF2 Gold.

2) "Economic Recovery Plan" and "Mefo Bills" are extremely lucrative deals. I immediately make trade deals to earn more money to enact them ASAP. I suggest you to do the same, don't bother wih dissent, your upcoming events will bring it to 0. IC bonuses from those events are crucial.

3) I tend to build until 1935 or 1936. Anything more make me struggle in Fall Gelb.

4) I keep my relations high with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Finland to bring them Axis in 1940.

5) Don't be fooled by high manpower. When you enter a long bloody war with Soviets, you won't believe how fast it is decreasing. And Soviets have much more manpower than you. I enact partial mobilization right after annexation of Czechoslovakia. Before that, i increase my conscription duration step by step.

6) I use air superiority though i am not sure if it is the best choice. You will obviously use 4 squadron stacks of interceptors. But beware, use at least 8 squadrons to cover a region. Anything less will result in AI doomstacks shattering your precious fighters.

7) I cant reach 200 divisions by Barbarossa probably because i spare a lot of resources to Navy and Airforce. Soviets will have close to 300 divisions by Barbarossa and this number will skyrocket after the invasion.

8) Yeah, upgrading is too slow. I reduced the time modifier from 1.0 to 0.8 because it is very ahistorical, i can't even make my tanks upgrade to Panzer IIIs by Barbarossa even though i invest continuous 60 IC on upgrades.

9) For airforce, i go with TACs because of longer range. Range is critical in Barbarossa. For Navy, CVs are the best after couple of months but i build Bismarck and Tirpitz anyway because i love battleships. I managed to sink many British battleships with those beasts because the British doesn't have many CVs in the early phase. Naval bombers are extremely ( and probably too much ) powerful. Use them to guard Norweigan coasts. The British will try to land at Norway when you are busy in the East.

Additional note : Be careful with oil. 70k oil reserve should't make you comfortable. You will see it will take one year in Barbarossa to consume that amount.
