I'm from Poland - country which suffer a lot of human lost from German and SU invaders. Such non-historical changes in public media like Adolf to Albert is a attempt of falsifying a history .... probably only for commercial puroposes.
I see only one purpose to hiding real names of NAZI leaders. And this is not fight with neo-nazism. This is a attempt to fake real history. Try to deny their existence and their crimes in the name of "political correctness." Now I really know who totally destroyed my home city - it was Micky Mouse and Pluto dog.

Such practices will have to be banned by international law ....
Think ... If it's not USA but Germans were used nuclear weapon in II War, there was not any DOOSDAY SCENARIO at all !! (you know why - censorship).
In other hand if the Barbarossa was sucessfull many other things would be changed .... IN 1939 scenario - Poland there was be an aggressor steered by "Evil Judes" and probably soviet commies and many, many, more lies. Playing this game every of us restores the BIGGEST human tragedy in history.
But ... better not to talk and think about too much - mayby somebody's law forbids it ... like German or Commy Chinese.

By the way, I think the German censors or whatever are being ridiculous. I can understand the no-swastika rule, the non-mention of atrocities and all that, but Albert Hiller and Hermann Gorink? Please, we are not fascists, just gamers. It’s not like mentioning old Hitler’s name will suddenly lead to criminal acts…

No - it is not a way for Paradox to falsify history.
It's an attempt to follow the laws in Germany.

what about the GOOD things Hitler did?

i can only imagine the censorship laws were to stop fascist revivals, which might have been a possibility in the 40's. I wouldn't say they exactly apply to nowadays, and publishing a swastika won't suddenly make somebody turn fascist.

German law says you can USE hitler and swastikas for documentations, in school but not in entertainment medias like computer games. Nearly every week there is a documentation in german tv about Nazi Regime, in school i had three years history lesson which i had to learn in detail about the regime, his rise to power and the really bad consequences for the whole world (inlcuding poland). Please do not overestimate the importance of a computer GAME about saying how a country deals with his past.

I think positive about the censorship of the swastika here in germany. Imagine, soon there is football world championship here, many cameras are on us and then there would some neo nazis marching, waving with "the real flags" and pictures from hitler through the brandenburger tor. What would the world think, especially the survivors of the holocaust. This are the scenarios, which our censors fear.

Whereas, by censoring an HISTORICAL game, the only thing to fear is ridicule.

But if you make an exception for a historical game, you soon have to make a exception for "historical music" cd´s, for far right wing newspapers which claim they are also "historical" and so on.Oour courts would have no time to do their ordinary work, because every day they have do decide if something is "only historical" or a propaganda neo nazi rubbish.

I think you have to be consequent to avoid that some dumbasses use this "symbols" to get the attention of the public or in the media.

it is illegal in germany to display those names/signs in anything other than art - and computer games do not count as such. If the real names were in, HoI2 could not be sold in germany. case closed.
