We are in negotiations with US and UK publishers at the moment and we deeply apologize for the delay with releasing the game in these countries. It is a frustrating time not getting your game out there and we are working around the clock to make this happen in a very close future.

However, the issue with releasing unofficial language patches is something we see as very seriously. Copyright text in Europa Universalis very clearly states that users are limited to do changes in the code or enclosed material. Changes to code are considered as cracking and we will not hesitate a second to take legal actions to anyone doing changes in our code. Manuals are also under the copyrights and may not be changed in any way.

I am strongly advicing you to wait until the game ships in your home countries.

Again, we thank you for your support of Europa Universalis and apprechiate the commitment you are showing to our game.

Kindest regards,

if paradox really cares about it's UK and US customers then they better release a demo and keep us updated on how the negocations are coming along.

TO PARADOX:
you've already hit a jackpot by making this game, don't screw this up by ignoring people in UK and US.
there's only so long I can will wait for this game.

Since Paradox earn their living by making and selling games I expect them to know a lot more about what to do when finishing a new game than you, Hetman, me or anybody else on this forum (unless there is somebody here from competing firms.... :)).

I would rather see the finished game than a demo (although that's only my oppinion) and it is no wonder that they don't reveal to much about the negotiations. When they have a deal they can say 'this have been decided, the game will be published at...'. However, until then everything they say can be wrong so why say something they can't be sure will actually be right?

They have told us they are negotiating and I expect they'll tell us when they make a deal with a publisher.

It must be my English or something...

Did I read that Paradox is extremely sorry for not releasing the english version in the UK and US????? It's not like the rest of Europe (or the world) will have a 'personalized' language version!!!!!

The problem with not having an English version is that NOBODY will have the game (except Germany, Holland, Sweden and such).
What about the REST of us?

Frankly, I'm getting tired of those 'announcements' or better yet, lack of... People start getting fed up and believe me... they'll go for a language patch if they can get their hands on one...

It strikes me as odd that Paradox didn't thought of finding a publisher BEFORE realising the game... it's the sort of thing you just don't forget...

It is your English (or your automatic on-line translator) !

You never read what you state, it was just a bad dream, you read that Paradox is currently negociating and will keep you informed when the English version shall be released.

The say that they are sorry 'bout the game beeing delayed, that means that they have put their minds into releasing the game in english/american.

I think the previous announcment was clear enough, it meant were negotiating with someone we can't tell you anything since it's quite delicious now, ie were close please be patient.

And for the signing publisher first, well you can do that but it's not common, by doing that you'll lose money later on. The best time to contract a publisher is somewhere around beta testing stage, they succeded to sign two or three publishers during this time (scandinavian, german and asian). I can imagine how hard it is to find a good (large enough) publisher in US when you are a 'small' swedish company like Paradox. I'd say wery well worked boys, I'm sure you'll get that good american contract with lots of well earned money.

They will have to start producing the stuff so I'll guess just about 1 or 2 months, tops before they hit the shelves, if the publisher does'n decide it' more urgent then it would come quicker, or they may find the time wrong so they push teh release for some time. I've seen both things happen.

Hi Generalfeldmarschall,

I am glad you made the decision to not distributing an unofficial language patch.

I respect that you are frustrated getting your hands on an english game. We are very happy with our english translation of both the game and the manual, but please e-mail me the translations you've made and we'll look them over.

Our ambition is to announce our US publisher early next week.

Generalfeldmarschall,

I think you made the right decision in contacting Paradox about the proper course of action to take regarding any translations.

I also commend your decision to abide by the rules and wishes of Paradox. It’s not worth it to suffer lawsuits over a computer game – even one as awesome as EU appears to be. :)

From what we’ve all seen on these forums, Paradox and the beta testers have worked hard to produce what appears to be one of the finest strategy games to be produced so far. Their decisions should be respected.

Quote from Christofer:
'Our ambition is to announce our US publisher early next week.'

Seems we'll be meeting on the EU playing field soon! :D
