Would it be possible to make the various formable German states (Westphalia, Germany etc.) be formable with the generic "German" culture that we get with converted games? It's mind-boggling that a large nation that is "German" cannot form "Germany" in EU IV. This shouldn't cause an issue with normal EU IV games since "German" culture is impossible in a non-converted game. My current CK II game that I plan to convert soon is severely balkanized and Germany is a constant battle between four mini-super powers Thuringia (me), Saxony, Swabia and Bavaria. It's a lot of fun and I want to continue the struggle into EU IV and be able to form Germany as a tantalizing reward at the end.

Wouldn't you be able to go to the GermanNation decision (in \decisions) and add primary_culture = german under the rest of the cultures?

I dislike tinkering with the files, especially when it's something that should already be there.

In all fairness, all converted games tend to need a little tinkering to be enjoyable. The converter will never be able to get the game into as polished of a state as the base EUIV starts. It's a wonderful tool, but without a little effort you'll never be able to get the best EU experience possible.

In an ideal world, they'd just do away with the base "German" culture as much as possible from converted games and implement something that would split it up into the various German cultures we have in EUIV.


All of that not even taking into consideration how bad CKII itself can muck up bits of the world (like wiping out minorities) throughout the progression of a game. Wanna create vassals to feed or release nations to help break apart a large empire? HAH, good luck with no cores from non-existing nations lying around!

And thus modding, because Bulgarian, Romanian, Serbian, and Croatian all being extinct by 1444 is pretty silly, as is Byzantium, France, and whoever I used already being a massive, mono-cultural blob with no worries of minority uprisings/having nations released by force in wars.

I can see how the converter isn't perfect, but there's plenty of small changes that could make it a lot better (Like Abyssinia isn't converted as Ethiopia despite Abyssinia and Ethiopia being the exact same country as an example) but I don't see the problem of monoculture mega-empires being converted, because that's what they are. I know it's not as fun gameplay wise, but at least it's accurate to how that game played out. I think the solution to a non-interesting converted game is just not to convert said games. It's funny they went through the time and effort to make Prussian --> Old Prussian, Frankish --> Cosmopolitan, easter egg stuff like the Kingdom of Israel, and a lot of the empires convert to their equivalents (Hispania --> Spain), but not things like Koln --> Cologne, German generic culture being supported, or Abyssinia --> Ethiopia. I mean they even bothered to make sure Muscovy would happen if the county of Moskva is somehow independent. Just saying the thought and care is amazing in certain parts of the converter, but is somehow absent in other areas.
