Hi all, I took a one and a half year break from HoI playing other games and have been drawn back to it following a random comment about something on tv that just triggered a sleeping memory..... and now im hooked again!

Quick question as its been so long, I cant remember the best diplomacy changes for germany, im on about 1936-1940 the changes to army, lobby and interventionism. Cant remember which changes i get through event and which i need to do manually.

Thanks in advance, I know the people on this board were always very helpful :)

Interventionism and Hawk Lobby will be auto adjusted via events.
Personaly I like to set the slider for Hawk Lobby to the left as fast as possible to get the most out of the extra man power it gives, but others may disagree.
What I would suggest is to get your Goverment to Authorian (slider totaly to the right), full Hawk lobby (totaly to left), full Interventionism (Totaly to left), then work on Standing Army slider (to the left).

I don't much worry about the rest of the sliders, as they are already to my liking. ;)

Enjoy the game.

AFAIK the events will take the sliders of both the Interventionism and Hawk Lobby to Full Left before the war starts (even without you needing manual setting).
Can't remember now if you start with Full Authorian slider as GER though, but that will also be set to full (right) before the war.

I only work on Hawk Lobby and Interventionism and after they are full, I concentrate on Standing Army.

As Germany I tend to push towards central planning, as the others are pretty much taken care of by event, and the extra ic is more beneficial early on I think, Then standing army.

just my 2 cents

I usually use my first push to move 1 towards central planning, and then concentrate on moving towards full standing army since you can achieve this by 1939 in preparation for the war. Then I'll push towards full central planning in subsequent years; the extra IC helps out TC for the invasion of Russia.

GER should go for full standing army, which can be achived by 1938 move. After that you can start building units. They will start with " a star". Thats where your armies power lies, experience.

Higher central planning early on means higher upgrade costs. Make you army with one star then upgrade it :)

The two most usual plans are to either go straight for full CP, or straight for full SA. Some combination of the two plans also works (eg: two CP moves to get the +15% bonus, then move to full SA, then finish off the CP slider).

Thanks for all the replies guys :)

I moved to full standing army first before doing anything on upgrading or buying units to minimise their costs then went CP

As people have said the intervention and hawk lobby maxed themselves early on.

Onward to conquest.......
