So I played this game as japan... happily conquering everything in sight (it is a little too easy at the moment). In Europe everything went according to plan at first (including the great italian army conquering france), so i went about my business and didnt look at it for a while.
And while i was busy in India and Australia (actually i wasnt too busy there, since my Imperial HQ conquered it almost by itself) i took a look at europe. Sadly I had a little Allies-spam and the US entered early. And they brought divisions!:
I didnt really know what to do, since i was quite far away and didnt dare send troops by sea, so i just kept on conquering... content to soon have to face the whole world (including some kind of FRG) alone. But lo and behold, when the yankees conquered munich the AI finally decided it´s time to use those divisions from the eastern front:
And when I finally arrived via Beograd, the germans were well on their way to painting europe grey again (which they soon afterwards did, with only a small amount of my east-asian prosperity paladins helping):
So I conclude: The original german threat assessment was correct. It was more important to keep the Bolsheviks from entering the war than to oppose those annoying americans - they could be dealt with in time
. The fun thing will be if the Soviets decide to join in on us, now that theres hardly any division left to face them(they just recently mobilized).
I was really positively suprised by the "flexibility" of the german AI, though of course USSR not dowing helped (I´m wondering if Germany consciously chose not to go to war with them because of the american threat though). On the other hand i cant understand how the US AI managed to fail like that, after such a promising start.
Anyways, now i can definitly never go back to HoI2
