Georgia Strategy

Is there is any way to succeed with Georgia? I always get sort of big with Georgia but as soon as Ottomans claim defender of the faith its impossible to expand since by that time Muscovy has already declared you as a rival thanks to the historical enemy malus and Poland+Lithuania isn't strong enough alone to beat the ottomans

It seems the only way to succeed is when Novgorod wins so you can have a stable ally that doesn't attack you as soon as the ottomans attack you

I'm having a lot of fun right now (see link for my current situation) as Georgia through a combination of skill, timing and luck. In this campaign you should generally expect to be short on basically everything, let it be money, troops or monarch points.

The Wiki offers some good advice on Georgia. What you need to do to is basically gobble up any Caucasus states through vassalization and annex Orthodox provinces as soon as possible and be generally opportunistic, and pray that Crimea and/or Qara Qonyunlu are not interested in devouring you in the meanwhile. You want to vassalize the Shia states for two reasons: firstly because their religion makes it hard at best to convert them, secondly because as a vassal they boot up more troops than you would if you own the land directly. I picked the religious and aristocracy idea groups for offensive and defensive purposes and they suit the best considering the situation. I was lucky that Lithuania did not fell into a PU under Poland since their help was essential, I was later on able to get an alliance with Poland. With their help I was able to fend off an invasion attempt by the hordes led by Crimea, who were assisted by the Ottomans.

I was going to say "challenge accepted", but with so many recent lets plays in that region, I think I will wait a bit.

I too think Poland is your best bet. Suck up to them big time and expand into horde lands.

I mean I can get past that part its just that expanding afterwards is a pain when the ottomans reach their full strength and PLC can't hold them off. Early game is easy as Georgia its just the early-mid game ottoman DoW after muscovy breaks alliance always ends my Georgia playthrough

this is roughly how large I get before Ottomans steamroll me ( Gazikamush and Armenia are my vassals) this is my latest play through ended because Crimea vassalized the GH after I Dowed them and their vassal Nogai and Crimea is allied with the ottomans



EDIT: my heir died for polands backer and my support got reset to zero is that supposed to happen?

If you're faster at the start, you don't get hemmed in as much.

I managed to get farther in my next playthrough but still there is just too many enemies when you grow with Georgia, so I tried to grow towards china so I could amass enough power to not be dead meat but alas Ottomans and Russia just get too strong too quick for me to stand a chance.

Im pretty sure that playthrough is over thanks to my autonomy being so high due to rebel problems I was having and from vassal integrating so the war score cost for my stuff is really low
