I will give you a straight answer to the more provinces question. The answer is a no. Each province needs a holder for every single date from 1066 to 1337. This is a lot of work for the provinces we already have. I know that you do have a valid point that adding just one more province isn't that much work, but at the end of the day would you, as the community, actually agree to a single province addition and exactly what it would be? I don't think so, you'd probably just ask for another one after that. However, to show that we do actually care, what we are going to do is this. We are going to resculpt the external borders of the duchies of Bohemia Morovia and Silesia to see if we can get the to look a bet less boxey and a bit more historical. It isn't going to please everyone, but it will be a step in the right direction.

What about Poland? Does it still have most of its provinces named incorrectly and placed randomly on the map?

In the case of Poland we have just recently received a map revision from our crack Beta team and looking to get it into the game.

That is really good to hear. Because the external borders were really AWFUL, especially if one looks how accurate France now is :)
THANKS for that :)

I fully agree that the borders there do look awful, for us it is simply a question of time. The map is being gradually overhauled to improve it. France for example is done. We will be continuing to work on the map, as and when we have time, from now until release to make the very best map we can. It will never please everyone, but hopefully we can please a few more people.

King, when it comes to adding more provinces, if the limiting factor for you guys is historical information (being Eu3 dedicated modder i know what youre talking about), why dont you guys make a, sort of contest thread, where people would come up with new provinces ideas, but only those who are also provided with information on holders (1066 to 1337) will be considered? I can bet that there will be people who will even provide you with flags (in whatever form you need for game) just to have province X included in official game.

So for example, if you have 20 people asking for one more province in Bohemia or Poland, and they provide you with province shape (maps etc), history (i bet you can find a lot more information about Polish history in Polish sources than on Wikipedia) and possibly flag, and if that new province fits into your design philosophy (size, over all number etc), then all you have to do is check data and if ok add it. In EU3 with a good map, history data and sample flag i can add a new province, country, flag, history and localization entry in about 5 minutes, assuming CK2 is anything like that, it cant take more than 10 minutes (for whatever additional mechanics you need to cover).

Id also be willing to help with this, if you need more manpower for this type of work.

Lord if only it was that simple. It is not enough to have the holders of the province, you also need thier relationship with the other characters in the game. Dry ruler lists are not enough. This is not easy as it sounds, to give you an idea of the kind of digging we have to do. The Seljuk rulers of Kerman, the English Wikipeadia page gives us Iran Shah (1096-1101) followed by Arslan Shah (1101-1142) now they are both Seljuks and related, but what is the relationship between the two men? Now I did finally get a realtionship and it is the one we have the game now, but it took some serious looking about to find it. You can have fun testing looking if you want. Thus not only do we have to send the time editing the map and adding the province, inputting the file, edditing the landed title file to give a dejur Kingdom and Duchy but we also need to verify that the people are actually right and connect together properly. So we won't be doing this, the overhead work we have on top we simply don't want to do for a public release where the content reflects on us.

OMG this map look so ugly. :| Give some love to map before release please.

With helpful comments like this, we can't help but improve!

If you are talking about province borders etc, do you have anything more useful to add? If you just mean the look of the map, we think it looks pretty good and don't plan to change it much.

Seconded. Byzantium can't not be purple, it's just wrong! You wouldn't make England yellow or France green, would you?

England obviously supposed to be red, and france blue. What is your prefered color for Byzantium?

I'm sure there supposed to be a lake (or two) in between Estland/Livland (can't read out which one is it) and Novgorod.

In the current build there is. Poland, boheima and baltic region was recently updated.
