Genius gone Quick?

I'm unsure if I'm going mad, however I am a dedicated people breeder. Genius is the treasure trove, the golden trait and I breed it relentlessly if I'm tackling a difficult campaign. So I am playing as a Muslim and when I succeed to my son's turn at the old ruling game I notice he isn't a Genius anymore, but he is quick. I shrug this off as my bad memory, however two of my bethrothed wives also went from Genius to quick and I think i've found the issue.

There's an event in childhood which can bestow 'quick', however I think its overwriting genius. Is this WAD do you think? Perhaps kids can be revealed to be less bright, as well as more bright?

I believe it's WAD - I think it simulates someone not reaching full potential due to a bad upbringing.

Events that used to give quick doesn't do that anymore (they add non-inheritable shrewd trait instead) so that shouldn't be the case.

I suspected as much, glad to get a bit of a second opinion on it. It irked me at first, but if its intended I see the sense in it.

It is Conclave education, can get from one of struggle traits, that can also give you 'dull' or decrease from genius.

If the child has the rowdy childhood trait one of the decisions gives the dull trait unless the child has genius or quick (or if the guardian has brave). If they are genius then it degrades to quick, and if they are quick they lose it.
