Genetics in 1.07?

Hi all

Im finally able to play CK2 on my mac due to 1.07.
Since last time i read that its doubtful that generics play any role in regards to the qualities of the children.

This time around i started a game as Denmark and married some unknown muslim women since she was a genius.

I have several children and 25% are geniuses. Another one is Quick.

Does that mean that genetics now matter? Or am I just seeing a statistical anomaly?

Traits such as fair, strong, genius, and quick have always had some genetic transfer down the line. It's how traits like inbred are brought into play.

Yes, anything like dwarf, harelip, even stutter can pass on the children with a high possibility now.

Any trait that seems genetic has a chance that it can transfer.

I have had dwarf transfer.

Did the transfer rate go up now for genetic traits with the most recent patch because I have had several instances in past games where either myself of my spouse or both had genetic traits and none of the children received any of them.

So this means that the "transfer-rate" has been increased? i saw nothing of it in the patch notes tho. But it feels like it.
I like the change tho. Eugenics here we go!

Yes, in another thread, someone said it was 25% chance, not sure where the number came from but it seems reasonable.

It seems to support what i experience in my current game. Im close to 25% with all my children, about 8 in total from that woman.

You know, I read about this and tried very hard to make my family full of genetically superior bad asses, but it didn't work. Out of something like 20 children with genius mothers, I've not had a single genius child. Since I read about the chances being increased, however, I've totally stopped promoting anyone who has a negative trait.

I've had a lot of genius kids, married a quick woman and she popped out 3 genius boys (too bad I was just a count). I remarried later and had less genetic traits, but did have 2 sets of twins that had the younger one as a genius.

It used to be if both parents had genetic traits you were more likely to get them on the kids, now they just seem to be a lot more common, ~25% seems pretty close, but my sample size is only about 35 kids/grandkids/etc

Before 1.07. I always married all my children and their children to genius or quick wives... I rarely got the genius trait passed down, very rarely. Now it happens all the time. I'm not complaining But a change is more than evident

In my current game my first ruler married off a grandson that eventually became his heir to a Genius Rurikovich, both for the Genius and prestige. They ended up having seven kids - four or five genius', one with attractive, and the other one or two popped out with no traits. The father was not a Genius or Quick, but he didn't have any of the dumb traits either. Unlike one of his cousins ...

I think the whole genetics thing has been given a bit more oomph. I saw a Nubian king being a dwarf, as well as both of his twin sons being dwarves as well. I actually traced dwarfism back to his paternal grandmother! It was a nice touch I thought.

One of my favourite parts of 1.07. No longer are genetic traits more likely to pop up at random than by blood. That means that if you have 11 daughters by an attractive wife, at least this time a couple may actually look like their mother!

I a started a Denmark game and married a genius wife. All my heirs have since been geniuses. Of course, I also married the genius heirs to other geniuses to perpetuate the genius dynasty. In one generation, all 4 of my sons were geniuses. I had to seek out some kingdoms for them and claim them.

Genetic traits now have better chances of appearing especially if both parents have them.

in my empire of brittania game i had a daughter that was a dwarf so i decided to see how far i could take it so i married her to another dwarf and all their kids were dwarfs, now its 3 generations later and my character has 6 kids 2 arent dwarfs, and all my grandkids are dwarfs. so most of the royal family of england and ireland are dwarfs now even though they split over 100 years ago.
