I've released an update.

Genealogy checks are now much more comprehensive and looks at the hidden genealogy of all characters involved in a check as far back as 4 generations.

Character flags are now set on any characters whenever homozygosity increases due to close relations. Using charinfo, you'll now be able to see exactly why a character's homozygiety increased without having to open up the character's family tree!

Great-grandparent/child and grand/great aunt/niece/nephew/uncle relationships are now checked for inbreeding.

In addition, I've included a new module: GIS Marriage. I used this to make inbreeding more common among the AI in order to test and balance GIS. It'll push the AI to marry their cousins and aunts/uncles/nephews/nieces more often than seen in vanilla.

The first file contains the main system and the second one contains a push for AI to marry close. They can be used independently of each other and have no overlap.

Yeah, but the decision for the ai to marry appears to be in both zip files..ie the files in each zip file contains the system and the mod with the decision

I just checked it myself and this isn't the case. Comparing the size of both .zip files (12.9 vs. 2.8 KB) shows that it's impossible for the smaller one to have the contents of the other. Are you sure you didn't accidentally download the same file twice?

It might be worth considering the option to counter the malus that this increases the chance of positive trait inheritance. Realy strong inbreeds would be rather Wrong Turn.

Released a new update.

For GIS:

Characters born to parents who are ethnically Iranian (Persian, Kurdish, Baloch or Afghan) are now more likely to obtain lunatic from inbreeding instead of inbred. This applies to West/High Valyrians as well in AGOT.

Double-cousin relationships are now checked.

Added the 'Purebred' trait. This trait disables negative effects from inbreeding and is meant to model the effects of genetic purging. Individuals who are purebred will pass this trait to their children as long as their partners are also purebred. Purebreds still have a homozygosity rating, but it'll have no effects on them. This trait can also pop up if a child is born whose parents and grandparents are all 50% homozygous.

For GIS Marriage:

Fixed an oversight that prevented female close relatives from being chosen as marriage partners by the AI, even if they were over 20 years old.

Yazidis will now also auto-marry their aunts and nieces.

Jews will now auto-marry their nieces/uncles, but aunt-nephew marriages are rare.

Unlanded councillors are now considered important enough for auto-marriage.

Oh? I'm now more interested in playing it. It would certainly allow for crazy Zoroastrian shenanigans involving breeding for genetic perfection (since HIP checks grandparents for congenital modifiers... even easier to get those traits in).

Is it possible to have Purebred (and Homozygosity in general) increase the chance of inheriting already existing congenital in addition to gaining a new one? So having 50% homozygosity - without the Purebred trait - gives you increased chance to inherit your mother's Harelip and you father's Strength in addition to the 50% of gaining a random negative trait, while with Purebred the fact that you no longer have 50% to gain a random trait is replaced by increased chance of inheriting those that already exist in your parents.

This is very possible, but out of the main mod's scope. With that said, I have my own solution to congenital trait inheritance that I plan to release soon that makes trait inheritance less random than in vanilla. With that mod you'll be able to get genetic traits 100% of the time if parents and grandparents have it. In vanilla, having two strong parents will give you two rolls of 15% to obtain the trait.

Does anyone know if this is compatible with up to date HIP? I've been getting some crashes and am having trouble pinning them down. I think it might be this, but I'm not sure.

Wait, so the Purebred trait is a good thing?

In theory you could reach a point where you are only repeating good genes, but you would have to cull all defective parts of the genetic code through selective breeding, but it could be done with careful management.
