Generals should gain experience when assigned on a planet. This is to symbolize that he becomes better at creating defensive works and tactics.
If the planet has a Command Center, then he should acquire experience faster.

Likewise, it is really strange that all soldiers trained from the command center becomes experienced, but the garrison soldiers does not. That should be changed.

Lastly, Generals die way too often because they apparently fight on the frontlines. Generals should rarely die as they should sit back and direct the battle rather than fight it on the frontline.

Every action from other generals should bring all generals or leaders some experience, as it will prove tactics based on engineerical premises.

Then one should get officers to play with!

The reason generals die so often is that they get auto-assigned to the first army in a group. That's the first one on the ground for an invasion, and the one currently being bombarded on the defense. If you manually select the bottom army, then assign them the general, they will have much better survival rates.

But if they were simply not assigned to a specific group but the whole army/planet like in EUIV, then that wouldn't be a problem. It's pretty stupid that it is made in this way.

Anyways, at least that explains why they die so often. Thanks.

This is just basic stuff right here. Admirals don't die until the entire fleet is wiped out. Generals should be the same, and they should also get passive XP gains for managing a Garrison, 100%. I want my Fortress World General to be the best.

We still pay the leader whether or not their doing anything, unemployed/light duty (defense General) should still get or do something, even if it's not as much as an active leader.

Imo unemployed leaders should provide bonus exp to new recruits and exp gain to active leaders based on leader level, that way you can "retire" your leaders and they teach the next generation of leaders
