I've just got some idle speculation that I'll like to share with everyone concerning how Generals/Admirals/Air Marshals will work in HOI. We know from the screenshots that they have experience and ranks. I'm guessing that Rank will determine the number of units that a general can command and experience would give then the means to get promoted and possibly a small combat bonus as well. Any thoughts on this?

But I'm wondering if there will be more stats associated with Generals. For example will we get something Simular to the EU Move, Shock and Fire? I'd hope so as I'd like the good commanders from WWII to be the good commanders in HOI, but if they're in the game what would they be?

IIRC, its broked down to 'Skill Level' instead of 'Shock value' 'Fire Value' etc, and that's the way it should be. Performance is performance whether you get it down by scaring the enemy or pulverizing him.:)

I've gone back and looked at the screen shots at first I thought skill ment like level but I think your right now. It still opens up more questions for me however.

Firstly is skill a fixed (doesn’t change) stat? Or will it change with promotion?

Secondly will promotion increase the rank (Lt Gen to Maj Gen ect) of the leader?

Plus the original question of does rank actually do anything?

I’d hope that higher ranks will give your commanders the ability to field more divisions in their armies and that high skill values will give you combat advantages. If this is the case it will encourage people to use higher ranking but poorer skilled commanders, as they will have a greater combat strength than a well skilled commander with a small army. It would also model the careers of people like Rommel very well for AAR writing:D

I seem to recall (either on a preview, or on this forum) that skill levels can increase with experience, but will decrease 1 point for a promotion. Force size depends on rank.

I believe you are correct -- I think that this is meant to reflect a leader's initial unfamiliarity with the administrative & logistical aspects of a larger command.

AFAIK a promotion will increase rank, and it will also increase the loyalty of the leader in question.

This is only speculation on my part, but I believe that the loyalty rating impacts how likely the leader will follow your orders -- perhaps a leader with low loyalty will be more likely to retreat or surrender when the chips are down & the breaks are going the wrong way? Just my guess...
