what a surpirse!
when i started a new gc (my swedish gc still unfinished) with russia, i remebered my other gc being only autosaved. imediately i loaded the save to secure those hours of gameplay and ...believe it or not... the russians were faced by my swedish juggernaut (annexed denmark, hanse, brandenburg saxony, teutonic order, vast parts of poland (incl. compl. baltic coast) and novgorod, onega and kola +vast colonial empire in north and central america). that´s fun. the czars (and me) are now battling an absolute superpower, guess it will be another hundred years till i can retake novgorod from those arrogant and expansionistic swedes (forgot to mention, that they are gushing out money)
has anybody else tried it? if it´s a bug, leave it in the game, that´s fun

Yes, I started a GC as the Teutonic Order using 1.02b and now when I am already in a game, and I load that GC from the menu, I end up being Russia, instead of the Teutonic Knights. If, however, I start the game, and choose my saved game from the main menu, I have to click on which player I want to be... which means I can choose ANY of the 8 playable powers.

Actually, it is kind of a neat feature. You could, for example, play as Austria and build a huge empire... then switch to Poland and try to beat the Austrians! It also provides insight into the state of the computer's powers, so you can see how quickly they achieve things in relation to you.

I don't know if it's intially intended. As far as I remember, some of us warned Paradox.

The feature is still on in the final release.
It's a good idea to keep/add it.
