This event seems kinda off flavor-wise if you have a religion where homosexuality is shunned/criminal, doesn't make a lot of sense to have your character just be completely accepting of their ward engaging in behaviour that could get them jailed later in life.
For followers of these religions, I think it should be rewritten to make the text a bit more ambiguous on whether the child has a crush or just wants a closer friendship, sth along the lines of "X has been trying to find any excuse to be close to Y, yada yada", and the option for encouraging Chastity could be something like "such affections could lead to unnatural desires".
