Something similar happened in my game as Portugal. I was allied with England, and he got some pretty big rebellions. He had thousands of troops, yet they just STOOD there and let the rebs take a lot of his provinces, and even form Wales. Only then did he move ONE regiment to try and retake ONE province. That was pretty funky. :rofl:
But this IS the demo, so I expect this stuff will be tweaked in the full game.

You guys do know that most of the AI files aren't in the demo right

Well I'm sure there will be issues with the AI, graphics, and god knows what else at launch - with a game this complex it's bound to happen. In a way you should think of the Demo as an "open beta" -- actually they should have called it that- Would have gotten a lot more attention and less complaints. -- If you find issues post it constructively and with any luck they will be addressed in the launch patch.

Try reading the comments thoroughly, from the bottom up. In jeffcenate's defence, he DID actually state quite clearly that he was referring to 'the original game' (presumable EUI) in his first and third posts. In his second post, he didn't repeat he was referring to the original because he was replying to someone's response to his first.

If I were you, I'd be much more worried about destructive comments like:

dont bother, its just a crappy spin off of civ and aoe.

What are the point of the AI files, really? If they cannot be fine tuned to colonize a specific area, to conquer a specific province, to provide historical context to the game, what is the use of them? :wacko:

Perhaps to set how "opportunistic" a nation is about whacking weak neighbors, whether to prioritize colonizing adjacent to existing colonies over "better" ones on the other side of the world... things like that perhaps. We'll see when the game comes out, won't we.

I don't like it when people with no knowledge of the game come and try to scare off people who had just noticed the game.

I found this annoying too, BUT you can definitely fix it by changing the resolution to meet your prefered text size.

Something tells me this doesn't help his colour blindness as much as say, having better colours would.

I have a 21" monitor and I'm running at the highest resolution offered.

It doesn't change the dark red on brown color scheme. Keep in mind that I already have the monitor's color saturation adjusted to compensate for the fact that some colors are harder to distinguish for me than others.

Yes, I can't really comment on color blindness because I know little about it. However, my brother is slightly color blind so I know its not uncommon.

I lowered the resolution to 1024X768 to improve the text size, its much more legible now.

Too bad the ingame interfaces aren't scaleable. There are certainly some menus I wish enlarged and some made smaller.

Oh well hope it's moddable. First thing I'll try my hands at.

Anyway about the guy, well granted when he was talking about the manual, he was referring to EU2. But I guess considering the changes in quality Paradox's games have gone through, he should've waited for the new manual to come out before commenting on such matters.

And really, he mentioned tax rates. Did he really try to understand the game? Ok, I know it's a complex game, but if he didn't get the game, criticism on its complexity would be valid, but criticism about something he doesn't even get is bad.

In EU2 when I was growing Milan for inheritance I found that it was reasonably competent at engaging and destroying rebel armies if it was at peace, but if at war it'd ignore the rebel troops, leaving it to me to defeat them. Perhaps someone with far too much free time can determine if that's the case in EU3
