Same problem

I am experiencing the same problem. I can see the Window "East India Company loading..." for a couple of seconds, before the programme crashes:
Code:
AppName: eastindia.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.8486 ModName: storm3dv2.dll
Patch 2 hasn't changed anything.

I looked up the directory "Data\Shaders\". There are no fx-files. All files are eic-files (e.g. "5xCkdmiGFsbA5ySEMFai4WxFBFH5A0l3ZyoToCxr1V2qSpl6KPSJrfBqro.eic"). Might this cause all the trouble?

Try this!!! found it in another thread!!! Works for me!!

Here's something you can try, as this has worked in the past with some games and Vista. Check your DEP setting:

1. Go to Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> System.

2. Click on Advanced system settings menu option to bring up System Properties.

3. Click the Advanced tab. Under the Perfomance section at the top, click on Settings button to bring up Performance Options.

4. Click on Data Execution Prevention tab

5. Mine has the the second radio button option selected, Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:. Click on the Add button down at the bottom.

6. Locate you install directory and select the eastindia.exe file.

7. Click Apply, then OK.

Good luck.
