I had the same problem as others with the recent updates (SOA, 2.0, 2.01) seemingly breaking the DLC.
In my case, I couldn't play before 1066.
So,
I read this thread:

Sure enough, starting the game with CK2.exe instead of ck2game.exe allows me to play starting in 867 again!
I didn't even have to re-install the game.
