Actually you would not make reliability a priority if you have a large military industry. If a tank breaks down it just gets replaced from your tank pool.

Depends. USA has a fearsome industry, but needs to ship all those tanks far over seas, which is a pain in the backside, so you dont want to have to do that if you can help it (make sure reliability is high). The soviets might not have to care.

I would also think that the US with its "fearsome industry" would learn to enhance the reliability of its vehicles by mass producing them so much to work out the kinks in the system. And could make more reliable equipment by virtue of having a reliable supply of "rares" to make the proper alloys.

Imagine the discussion we would be having in the History forum between Darkrenown and everyone else about the Panther if the US had built something like the Panther, except they built 3x as many and had time to work out the defects and had enough Chromium to make the right alloys and employed ideas on the production side based on what they learned from breakdowns in the field and forced everyone to make the same tank with no infighting like the Germans had and.... [post goes on for another 75 items in the list]
