I'm still a noob at this game but have noticed a few issues that imo need tweaking.

1: Vehicle repair. Public service vehicles normally run for years with proper maintenance. I would like the option to move bad condition vehicles into the depot for repair. These could either be repaired over time or a one off cost.

2: Stop upgrade. When new stops become available, the option to upgrade your old stop without having to delete the stop and messing with the route should be available.

3: Tram system. The ability to route these underground and to connect to a metro system.

4: Box junction. In later games, the ability to place box junctions or 'keep clear' zones.

5: Metro entrance. In most major cities, the entrance to a subway is on a street corner or along the sidewalk. In-game, it seems impossible to place one in that sort of location. I think this should be re-worked so as to allow sidewalk placement if the sidewalk is wide enough.

6: Financial stats. A comparison to previous years profit/loss would be good.

Apologies if these have been mentioned before. I guess there are many more things that we would like to see. Hopefully the game will sell well so as to give the producers incentives to keep improving it.

5. If the sidewalk is wide enough, you already can place a station...but just the standard sidewalk of a street is not wide enough for that...i don't see a major problem over here.

1. There's a mod available for vehicle repair, can't find it now though.

2. Upgradeable stations were added in a patch, you just place the upgraded one on top of the old one.

Hi Obst. The vehicle repair mod is made by Pysdos but unfortunately crashes my game. I think there is probably some conflict with the vehicle realism mod or line data mod which I use.

I just read the patch file and indeed it allows you to upgrade your stops.

Thanks for the reply.

Rather than having to manually place box junctions/keep clear zones, surely it would be better if vehicles (both AI and player) would only enter a junction (road, rail or otherwise) when they can pass through without stopping (and thus obstructing other traffic).

I agree and it's quite realistic as this is the traffic rule anyway in quite a lot countries AFAIK...

I have only played Helsinki and all the sidewalks seem the same size. Thanks for the link ;)

I believe box junctions were not on UK roads until the 70's so as I said maybe an option for the later game. I do not think common sense is the AI strong point :) My Helsinki game is an absolute nightmare caused by vehicles blocking roads.

I agree and it's quite realistic as this is the traffic rule anyway in quite a lot countries AFAIK...

The rule is to block junctions?

Traffic is dependent on population.
Each vehicle is actually a citizen of the city getting from one place to another (and not using your service, the bastard...).
The more people on the city, the more vehicles in the roads.

Have you found that building transport routes do not seem to have much effect on traffic density? I am referring to Helsinki as it's the only map I have played.
Can anyone confirm that transport services actually reduce vehicle density?

Hello,

I would like to see is, A Bus Only Zones.

There are many things which could be added as time goes on (in game terms). I guess it all depends how popular CIM is.

Bus lanes would indeed be nice on 2-lane roads. Maybe (just a thought) we could have bus lanes on the sidewalks of large roads?

Judging by the fact that Cities in Motion is the 5th most sold paradox game on gamersgate according to paradoxplaza.com, we'll probably see plenty of new content for CiM and a sequel.

I think someone also suggested that bus lanes run down the centre of avenues (like tramlines). This would be a useful feature, and could still work in conjunction with tram routes.

It is possible but very hard to achieve. You can see in the private motoring graph how many people have a private car. When someone is planing his journey he takes into account how much time it takes, price etc. In almost all cases, a private car is the fastest solution.
In order to see a significant reduction in traffic density you need to have an extremely effective network with very low prices.

Yes. Ideally you should be:

A) Robust and simple: achieved when the public transport system is built up as a simple network of as few, clearly defined lines as possible. A stable and simple network of lines with high frequency, high enough to satisfy large sections of the travel market.

B) Integrate services across modes.

C) Low fares prices, attracting people away from cars and giving accessibility to all citizens.

I still think metro entrances should fit on sidewalks. As for bus lanes, they are more modern so perhaps not available until a later date?

As for sales.....thats good news :D

I think someone also suggested that bus lanes run down the centre of avenues (like tramlines). This would be a useful feature, and could still work in conjunction with tram routes.

I agree but as I wrote above, not available until a more modern period.

All of this seems difficult in Helsinki although once I took loans to build metro stations, my money increased dramatically but then I lost interest :( I have started Helsinki again but will only use Trams  I have made some tram only areas through :D
