OK.

I thought it was something like that. Even better than I remember, actually.

All I can say is ...

Brilliant!

Well, I don't actually talk that way, mind you. I guess I should say...

Yee-haw!

I knew there was a reason I was looking forward to this project.;)

I mean, between you and Johan, what could go wrong?:p

Y'all try and stay on schedule. I'm not getting any younger you know.

We will do our best

Has it been mentioned if there are going to be Monarchs or Heads of State in the game?

It was always a little strange that a game called Victoria didn't have... Victoria. :p

not been mentioned but unlikely due to the sheer potential of ahistorical possiblities. If the Anarcho-liberals rise up, overthrow Victoria, who is in charge now?

You know, I've been wondering one thing that's only barely been touched upon. Will there be a World War?

World War 1 can easily be considered the most important event to happen in the game's time period. Yet, in Vicky, if you started from the Grand Campaign, it didn't happen. In the late-game, things just stagnated and nothing interesting ever happened, and it was all very boring. Yet we kept getting all these techs pertaining to the war, including lots of "post-war" techs in Revolutions, and stuff like the Great Depression, despite there being no war. It was awfully silly, truth be told.

Now, I know what you're thinking, why should WWI be forced to happen if the circumstances aren't met? Well, I don't think World War 1 as it happened should actually happen, persay. What I really want is a cataclysmic Great War that lasts for several years and rages on across Europe and the rest of the world, and changes the face of the world as we know it. Maybe, instead of absolutely nothing happening in the end of the game, a trigger should go off after a certain date or whatever that causes nations to align themselves in a manner that creates more permanent power blocs as opposed to the normal simple temporary alliances from Vicky. The power blocs should be created dynamically based on the political climate in europe, and what ideologies each nation subscribes too. And eventually, the game should do something to spark a war between these nations sometime in the late '10s, early '20s.

I can't tell you exactly how it should be done, but I think a system like this should be in place. The second half of the game should be one big lead-up to a mighty, almost inevitable war. I would be really thrilled to hear that a system like this, or SOMETHING that causes the late game to be interesting is in the works.

Just my two cents. Was bored tonight and figured I'd throw in this idea.

To be quite frank, on an 1836 start I feel it would be impossible to script a WWI. Either you will end up with one of those what the hell monents where you as Germany end up fighting your best buddy France because the event says so, or an event chain so convoluted with triggers so rigid that it never fires anyway. That is not to say that we don't want the late game to have that sort of rising tension that could lead to a World War. However or goal is to a have it avoidable (I personally feel that WWI was avoidable, but no one wanted to) and the particpants in the war to feel right inside the happenings of the current game.

That's why I wasn't asking for a historic Great War, but a system that tries to create one. The thing is, in Vicky, there's no real "war to end all wars", even the ones the engine labels as "great wars" end within a year and have only minor exchanges of territory. Whether the war ends up historical or not, I think there should be something that drives all the great nations into power blocs that leads to a world war, dynamically. That would make the late game a lot better, in my opinoin.

It is something we are looking into.

What time frame does this game run? 1836-1936?

Yes, but here is our plan. We would rather have fewer scenario starting points and work really hard on getting the setups right than go for lots of half arsed scenarios that don't really work. To see what I mean start the grand campiagn in Victoria in 1.00 and compare that with 1.04. The 1.04 setup was reworked so the economy actually worked (better) so you could actually play the game instead of trying to avoid the spiral of death at the start.

1836 Scenario aka the GRAND CAMPAIGN, none else.

That will be the first scenario we will work on, and we will make sure everything is done. Some POPs need more miltancy, need issues, need CON to get the start right? Then we make sure it is in. Then and only then do we think about other scenarios.

clausewitz stuff ? what is that ?

The new engine that EU3 and successor was built upon. However the good news is that we are doing a radcial rework of the interface and promise not to have everything in a single side bar.
