Alternatively, they're putting the additional portraits and music into game, so no one feels pissy about material being cut from the game just for those who were lucky enough to catch the promotion. Those rewards almost all feel so... uninspired. Like which game does not have QnA, wallpapers and video about making it? It's in the developer interest to include it. I would expect more Kickstarter like rewards for signing in, like additional soundtrack - which is the only reward I'm happy to see. Rest is meh.
I:R barely reached 40k, rewards should feel more usefull, than wallpaper and should have an impact on the game. Like: "wow, we see at PDS that you are so eager to have I:R! For your effort we'll give you additional skins/portraits/music".
But I guess it will be content for pre-order.
I don't understand your point? Like you think that during the developement of CK2 devs cut of from the base game every portrait pack we are now buying in separate DLC's? I doubt that in vanilla Rome there will be every portrait/unit pack. But sure, let's go with it. Which group of portraits should be cut out of the game? Which racial/ethnic group loses their unique graphical identity?
You know how multiplayer in PDS games work, right? Host gives every DLC to other players. Only host needs to have DLC's. Everyone else doesn't need to purchase, for example, Waking the Tiger in HoI4 to have access to chinese focus trees and WtT features in MP match. So your point is invalid.Having the extra portraits *could* change checksums, since the extra portraits are likely to be a semi-hidden mini DLC on a technical level. That'd mean the backers would lose comparability with the non-backers, or have to turn off the DLC (thus losing access to the content) in MP. Even if it doesn't affect checksums, running different DLC to the host is problematic at best.
There's a difference with a portrait pack created after the release of the game, and having a "signup only" portrait at launch.I don't understand your point? Like you think that during the developement of CK2 devs cut of from the base game every portrait pack we are now buying in separate DLC's? I'm aware that that's how it's meant to work. You know how multiplayer in PDS games work, right? Host gives every DLC to other players. Only host needs to have DLC's. Everyone else doesn't need to purchase, for example, Waking the Tiger in HoI4 to have access to chinese focus trees and WtT features in MP match. So your point is invalid.
