This has been going on since I downloaded new addons and Windows 10 updated. A press play, the steam window pops up saying that its launching the game, it says "running" then "syncing" next to the name of the game on the list, and then there's nothing, I don't even reach the CK2 launch menu. I've tried things I've seen online, but they haven't worked. I downloaded a bunch of things like Microsoft Visual C++ and DirectX End-User Runtimes, I updated my Geforce driver, and I've done a full clean reinstall multiple times. I also tried launching it directly from the .exe file, but I got an error 0xc000007b message (hopefully that helps). No idea what to do at this point, I just want the game to work.

The Windows 10 anniv update has done this to some people.
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ _CommonRedist\DirectX\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ _CommonRedist\vcredist\ and run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe
IF that doesn't help, I'm afraid this is a bit of work, but please rename or move this list of files:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcp100.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100_clr0400.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\xinput1_3.dll
C:\Windows\System32\mfc100.dll
C:\Windows\System32\mfc100u.dll
C:\Windows\System32\msvcp100.dll
C:\Windows\System32\msvcr100.dll
C:\Windows\System32\msvcr100_clr0400.dll
C:\Windows\System32\xinput1_3.dll
PLUS all files that fit the pattern d3dx9_??.dll in both those folders; usually about 20 in each. Then re-run those three .exe files, which will replace them all with known good ones.
Sorry to put you to this trouble, but Microsoft have not provided any way of repairing or uninstalling those modules, so we have to do it manually. The only alternative is a clean Windows re-install; in particular if you've done an in-place upgrade from Win 7/8/8.1 to 10.

That is unfortunate, I agree! If the above did not help you then clearly you have a different problem. If so please start your own fresh thread, with all system and problem detail as you see me asking for in each thread here.
it seems i had a similar problem... i did everything requested by the post of AndrewT however when launching the game the game crash when the logo appears and the music starts (nothing is charging)
Again: if the measures discussed above do not help you, you have a different problem! PLEASE each start your own threads with full problem details and history.
after having read that deleting and re-installing the game could be the fix... i did that and apparently it worked... just have to check if the mods and saves can be... saved
