Unable to play the game after recent update to Urban warfare. No mods. Game stuck loading prepping mission. Tried repair function in steam and uninstall and reinstall. nothing working.

I would try a clean uninstall and reinstall if you have. The uninstallers some mods provide do not clear away everything they add.

no mods. I did a clean uninstall and reinstall. I disabled the atlas special skin and it seems to run now. Not sure if that was it. I got the idea after reading threads about the old blackjack skin messing up things

If you can, open a bug report also and include the output_log.txt and the savegame . Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's up.

I'll try this as well. I didn't realize the old blackjack skin messed up anything.
That worked. My Atlas had the SBA skin on it. I took it off and was able to drop without a problem. Thanks for the tip @Borumber !!!
