Game won't run - black screen

...unfortunately, I have the same problem as the first person on this thread....

As I didn't get my game from gamer's gate, but instead from Wal-Mart, I'd really like an actual solution to the problem...

Fixed?!?!? wtf...

I fixed the first problem by running the install program in compatibility mode.... unfotrunately, as soon as I got the game installed, the game won't run! who made this game anyway?


Now all I get when I go to play the game is a solid black screen and it freezes.

I'm about to take it back and demand my money back! What gives?!

I've moved you into your own thread, as you now have a problem unrelated to the thread to "me too" posted in.

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected by Vista to a non-system directory, like c:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome\, where [name] is your Vista user name. You may have to search your C: drive for them.
