Game Won't Boot [Windows 7, Steam]

Hey guys,

Just bought the game and installed - when I launch the game from Steam it says "Running..." but nothing ever boots up. Anyone have a fix for this?

Checked with him - he's got SP 1 and the C++ redistrib. from the post in the Tech Support forums. He doesn't get a splash screen or anything.

This may be a stupid question but is he running 64 bit windows? Fully updated legit windows? (just asking) Other Hardware specs would help also.

Yes, 64 bit and legit. I7 920, gtx 1070, 16gb ram. He doesn't have trouble with other games, just SD.

That is strange indeed. I also have a 1070, 16gb, but I have a 6700k and have had zero issues. I assume the same thing happens after a file verification and or re-install through steam? Any third party programs getting in the way? I have to say I am stumped.

The cpu is over 8 years old, that could be something as well.

That shouldn't matter if it's above spec... and yeah, we've tried verifying and re-installing.

My experience today matches yours. I eventually got it working after about 2 hours.

Here is what I did:
Updated my video drivers. No fix.
Read the advice page. Verified local files. Repaired the steam folders.
Uninstall, reinstall, no fix.

Read the steam advice page.
I did a website recently, used Brackets and Visual Studio 2017, so these still had servers running/not?
Uninstalled Brackets, uninstalled IIS server, node.js.
Uninstalled AMD raptr and anything else not actually needed.
Deleted the Steel Division save game folder as advised on the advice page. This contains the configuration of the setup. Did is over an over during all of the above.

Finally, the game ran, no problems since.

I reckon it was the Brackets and VS servers running possibly? They mention this in the steam advice page.

And YES, this is the only game with problems. Have just played Cities Skylines on steam, no problems ever with that game.

AND AFTER SAYING ALL OF THE ABOVE....

I did play for about 2 hours earlier today. Just went to go play again....

CRASH ... this time when I click on Play on Steam, usually I get to the loading... loading... loading...

It is a beta...

UPDATE..................................

I had just finished playing Cities Skylines, 5 minutes earlier, so maybe there was stuff still in my memory cache...???

Deleted again the C/users/Savegames/Eugen/SteelDiv folder.
Rebooted pc.
Loaded again, recalced the video, playing again now.

KEEP TRYING, Do not give up.
