Game won´t start

First of all, good morning.
Most certainly, what I'm about to report here, some other had that problem, but since there's no search botton, I must repeat myself. So I'am sorry.
Now I long have HOI2 and played with great delight.I had the game updated to patch 1.3a. Recently I bought (second hand) Doomsday and installed it and also runned all the patches available for it (1.3a also, I believe).
Now the problem arises: When I try to play DD, it says for me to install the last milestone ( ) and the .exe says Beta next to it. And to add to the fun, HOI2 now does not play. It freezes in the loading screen, with about 90% of the bar (it's now white, probably due to DD) completed.I've mande a complete uninstall of both games (even the manual one that is detailed here) and made everything new, put the patches back on and the problem is the same

Any of you Generals wish to help this poor corporal??

Some add-on info. When I try to run the game, when it freezes, and If i try to go to the desktop, the following error lines appear:

Couldn't find palette gfx\palette\t-carrier_escort C-min L-1.bmp
Couldn't find palette gfx\Palette\T- nuclear_Submarine C-Min L-1.bmp
Couldn't open db\units\division\nuclear_submarine.txt

And looking into those folders indeed the files are not there.

First question... are you running Vista?

If so turn of UAC.

1. Save your HOI2 saved games to a separate folder.
2. Uninstall HOI2 DD in add and remove programs
3. Follow the instructions in the sticky thread above that says -- How to manually Uninstall HOI2.
4. Install HOI2 DD. Try to install it in another folder like C:\games.
5. Install the HOI2 DD 1.3a patch Get it from at

Something definately went wrong with your DD installation. The best way to fix it is to wipe it clean and start new.

I thank you for your quick response, Coreymas.
I did all you told but the problems remains. So, or my copy of DD is corrupted, or something else is happening. I manage to play hoi2 before I install DD, but after that, the same crash and warning of missing files remain.
I even tried to create the files from ones that already exist (t-carrier and t-submarine and the submarine.txt) but then the game just freezes.
Well, i don´t suppose any of you have those files and can e-mail them for me. If that worked, would be the confirmation that the DD game I got is corrupted. If any have any more info or advises about this, please post it here.

The problem is that you are using the wrong patch.

Have you followed every step in the sticky?

well, I first installed all the patches for hoi2 vanilla up untill 1.3b, then installed DD and installed all the patches till 1.3a. In the paradox and here, in the forums, says that this last patch should work with all the games and is hoi2 vanilla compatible. So I believe i've done everything correctly , haven´t I?

HOI2 Regular is an independant game from HOI2 DD

So if you dont want to play HOI2 Regular dont reinstall it

1. Uninstall HOI2 (both DD and the Regular one)
2. Install HOI2 DD
3. Install HOI2 DD 1.3 patch (the one i put up a link for before)
