Game window suddenly drops when loading

So I've recently come across an issue where, as my game finishes loading, the game window suddenly drops and leaves a big black bar above it. I can't touch some of the buttons down on the bottom of the screen, and it's not any mods because it even happens in the base game. for the base game, and I have every major DLC except for Horse Lords.

My CD Key is ************* for the base game, and I have every major DLC except for Horse Lords.

Delete the CD Key right now ! Don't publish something like that.

by submitting a request ticket (green box top right). As this indeed seems to be a technical isssue, you probaly have to provide a dxdiag report file or such.

Also no idea why you posted your CD key, as you couldn't have registerd your game without it right ?
That's why one has to register for subforums, so this step of veryfying rightfull ownership of the game is already done.

Might be someone else has an idea here, but i wouldn't bet on it.

Actually it sounds like an issue with the resolution in settings.txt in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader kngs 2.
Might try deleting the settings.txt (it gets recreated on start).

If that doesn't help check this:

"Whenever I start the game in fullscreen I get a black screen and after a few seconds the game crashes
Navigate to and open "Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\settings.txt"
Locate "refreshRate=0" and make sure it is set to an refresh rate your monitor supports (60 Hz is common)
Ex. refreshRate = 60"

Though maybe you have a problme with a display mode (full, windowed, borderless) and simply have to change that, though deleting the settings.txt should recreate it properly.
