Game Will Not Load Properly

Folks:
Concerning Victoria II game: would someone be so kind as to tell me what may be wrong if the MapSprite and MapLogic load, but
when the "Loading Databases" cycle is working, the computer freezes up and will not complete the load sequence or cycle. I have Victoria game loaded and it does fine. HELP, please?
