Game Vortex review: huh?

Reading the Game Vortex review, I came across this little nugget:

"...you get up to 3 advisors critiquing your moves, giving suggestions on the next best course of action and so on. I can’t tell you how many times I was a bit lost and fell back on my team of sages to lead the way."

What?!? Maybe he's mistaking random events as being tied to the advisors? I have no idea where he got this idea from.

The rest of the review seems OK. I like when he calls Total War "simple." It's funny because it's true.

Yeah that does seem a bit shady. It is possible that he doesn't have a full copy and is writing the review from what he's already read on the web and from playing the demo. It's easy to make stupid mistakes in the rush to publish.

Actually, I was pretty sure there were at least some events where advisors were a factor. Aren't the Reformaiton events effected by whether or not you have a theologian advisor?

There are quite a few events which are either dependent on advisors or at least their probability is affected by what advisors you have. If you have advisors with skill 6 or above (I found this when I modded my advisors) you can get some events giving you the effects of a new national idea for a few years.
