Talk about a headache for your computer.

Same as title, the game using all of my CPU and causing lag. No issue with EU4.

I should also say I moved it to only using two, but it still was way too slow. Sadly, I can't play the game this way. I tried installing it to a /E See if that helped.

I'm not aware of any deliberate change in this area. You have 4 CPUs - are you saying all 4 are at 100% ?

Does this still happen if you roll back to 2.1.6, as a test ?

Newer video driver for you
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit.exe

And probably worth doing a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2

Thanks for the link!

Basically checking out the task manager says it is using 100% CPU usage, I had no real problems with India and no problems with Charlemagne. It's this patch that brings vanilla down completely for me. Not to mention the CPU usage goes crazy. Auto saving also takes a lot longer including giving a regular hourglass, which means the game get stuck for a few seconds. Scrolling the map is terribad on speed 3,4,5 but that's been there for awhile.

Here it is starting up on 2.1.6

I blew the paste here, it should say:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

Did you get this with any of the 2.2.x releases or betas? (I actually meant to say 2.2.1 above, not 2.1.6)

The reason you see 100% during load is right there in the patch notes for 2.3 - they made the load phase use multiple cores, to speed that process up. You're not seeing 100% during the play, which is what I thought you were saying in your OP.

What actual symptom are you seeing during play? Is it slow to pan around the map, or slow for days to pass, or animations, or save speeds, or what?

Don't worry I made sure I did all of that before coming here.

Is it slow to pan around the map, or slow for days to pass, or animations, or save speeds, or what?

Simply all of the above besides animations, really if I had to say the worst would be autosaves (Terribly slow and good lord I don't want to experience mid-game with it)). I don't think that panning around the map could be fixed nor could the days passing.

This only really affected me after the newest patch. Charlemagne was fine (at least as far as I remember) and I didn't really get into the open betas.

Well, I truly don't know where to go on this one. We have your report, and one or two somewhat-but-not-entirely-similar ones, and that's it.

Do you have any access to a different machine you can try the game one, just to see that it's specific to this environment?
