game unexpectedly crashes

Let me start by saying that I am fairly technologically inept. I have been playing CKII for a couple thousand hours and i have most of the DLCs installed including the new Charlemagne. I am running version 2.2.1 i believe. I have been experiencing consistent crashes for the last week or so and i am not sure what the issue it. In general the game has been very stable on my machine.

I would appreciate a little feedback. If you need more information to help me get to the route of this you will have to give me instruction suitable for an idiot to follow.

I've had the same problem. The game's always worked fine, almost never crashed, but that changed within the past few weeks. It crashes out of nowhere and says "CK2 has stopped working". I'm thinking it was the latest DLC. Is there anyway to stop it. I noticed that for me, it's happened while I tried to fast forward at 5x's speed. I'll test playing at lower speeds (but the game gets dull pretty quickly at lower speed...).

Could this be the Unit pack issue we are seeing a lot of right now?

If so, all we can do is wait for a patch, sorry.

It may have something to do with the unit pack.. I don't know. But my game doesn't crash as long as I stay off 5x's speed. I can play for hours with no problem otherwise.
Also, are you suggesting that the Norse unit pack is the problem or that getting it will fix the problem?

Sorry, was the discussion in that thread unclear? It only happens when that pack - or, it may be, it or Saxon, Celtic and Warriors of the faith - are NOT active.

However your problems sounds unrelated, if it's speed dependent.

I have the same exact problem. Last 2 days, game seems to crash everytime I hit 5x speed.
