Is it just me or is the game running noticeably slower? It ran fine for me before AoW came out. If it is I imagine that it's because of all the new territories.

It's running a bit slower at 5 ticks, yeah. Not by much, thankfully, and anything lower is same as before.
I think 5 ticks doesn't have a hard cap — it just runs as fast as your computer is capable of processing what's going on. When I got a new computer with an SSD and started playing CK2, the months were ticking by so fast my screen was filling with events.
