Expect them to be reasonable. It's not that it's a demanding game for your 3D accelerator :D Game runs as smooth, sometimes smoother, than EU II here

But as EU2 expect to need a fair amount of RAM (a lot more than most other games) like 196MB for Win98, 320MB for W2k and 512 for WinXP for smooth non-swapping operation. Also EU2 scales more or less linearly with CPU, i.e. the faster CPU the faster the highest time compression runs. But of course I'm only guessing based on EU2 and aiming for recommended specs not minimum here :)

The game runs more smoothly because there are far fewer countries then in EU2.

This old P3 550 MHz system is getting old... Gonna build me a new one before HOI comes out.

EU II ran just fine on XP with 249+/- RAM.

At this stage of the beta, HoI seems to run significantly better than EU II on my P3 550 MHz 256 MB RAM computer, likely primarily due to the much smaller number of countries. I expect that the game will end up running noticably slower when it's finally finished, though.

That feature seems to be disappeared since 1.05...:( ;)

I only had 2-3 since I've installed the patch...

Dark Knight, do you think that a 433 Mhz, 64 RAM could handle HoI?

Patric

Thanks, Patric, it appears that HoI will be a bit higher demanding then EU2 then. But I have no real problems running EU2 (yes, sometimes it's a bit slow, but I can cope it), so it'll do.

Anyway I'm planning to buy a new PC as soon as I can convince my girlfriend it's for the best...;)

I personally wouldn't be able to stand playing EU II with this amount of RAM. But then, I prefer to play at the maximum possible speed. Although HoI can be set to the same maximum speed as EU, it makes sense to play it at a much slower rate since it's more of a war game and covers 2.5% as much total time, so you should be fine.

Just wondering. Ram (or anything else) isnt a problem for me.

1.9 ghz
G4 VC
1024MB of ram
70 gigs of HD
Cable

Just bought the rigg so I could get great playability for ww2online. Man does it FLY fast. Hardcore.. I actually play EU1 the animations goes by so fast I dont see it for more than 2 seconds. If you can believe that.

Would it be roughly the same speed as with EUII? I have 64MB RAM as well. Would it be possible to play HoI with that amount of RAM?

It will be possibe but more RAM would make it smoother.

Video Cards

Normally, I'd not worry about this, but since I'm having an impossible time getting a new game release (Medeival Total War) to run due to my video cards, I'm curious to know what stats we should have with this. The problem with MTW is they don't tell you which cards are unsupported until you've bought the game and read the 'readme.txt' file! Then try returning it to a store with a 'return for the same item' policy. Sigh. I know Paradox would do no such evil though. I just need to know if I need to buy a new PC soon!

Look - Patric has already posted here that a 433 mhtz machine will have no problem CPU wise but that 64 Mb RAM is at the lower end.
Vulture has stated that it isnt 3D card intensive.
The specs is also the aim of the beta - to find out exactly what the finished article will run on.

It should definitely be possible.

You should wait until we're farther along in the beta before asking more specific questions about exactly how well the game will run with various computer specifications.
