game saves, and dlc

So i tried to log in and all my saves are not loadable because it says that the Content i have is inactive. Also, the saves i have are not from an ironman game mode, but i cant access ironman at all either.


I tried reinstalling, and i registered the game, which i hadn't done before, neither of which fixed either issue. i tried deselecting and re-selecting the DLC, inside the loader window, and that had no effect as well.

Registering the game here can never change anything within the game, as all you are doing is telling this website you own the game. So, a good thing to have done (so you can get support) but it could never have affected your game problems.

"Tried to log in" to what? The game itself asks for no login. By "tried" are you saying you didn't succeed?

It sounds like you simply don't have access to the Steam servers. MP, Ironman and non-ironman cloud saves require that, do games with local saves work OK?

log in meaning load the game, the game loads just fine but i can not load prior saved because the DLC content is inactive? its showing all the content its just not usable? i can start a new game just fine, but again, without all DLC. all my saves are local. i dont keep anything on the cloud because i have no need to do so.

on the launcher screen it displays all content, but doesn't access it?

Im not the wisest dude when it comes to software interacting. so forgive me for misstating ideas.

Is the Steam client running? Is it in online mode? Are Cloud Saves enabled in it?

What if you do a Steam verify, does that run clean?

I'm having the same problem. Yesterday everything was going fine- today it says Ironman and Multiplayer are disabled. I verified Steam Cloud is enabled and verified my cache. I also deleted the game and setting files but re-installing didn't fix anything (except now the DLC is disabled as well).

Yes Steam is running, yes its in online mode. and yes cloud saves are enabled. I have verified the game cache, to no avail.

I'm getting a message that says ironman mode requires the game to be validated...

how do i validate the game?

Can you post that message exactly please? The game needs no validation per se.

Check you have all Steam ports open in your firewalls - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711 "Steam client section.

Failing all else let's try try a full clean re-install: move any valued save games elsewhere and uninstall the game from within Steam. Then manually delete ALL the EU4 directories from under BOTH the Steam and MyDocuments folders (see the sticky FILE LOCATIONS thread above for exact locations of these two directories). Now re-install the game from Steam, and run the Verify just to make sure it all came down properly.

Ok, so heres the thing. I got the problem fixed.

You have to physically delete all EU4 files from your local steam folder and reinstall. Its the only way to fix the issue if anyone else is having it.

so hopefully knowing this will help someone else in the future.

I have the same problem as #5, and did a complete removal from my computer. Didn't work, still says my game is not verified
