Game runs at abysmal speed

So the new patch worked fine for me until this weeks monday, when it slowed down to a snails pace. It has something to do with the patch, cause when I downgraded to the previous patch the game ran just fine. As I said it used to run just fine in the new patch also, no idea what changed that. Have tried all the advice I have found on these forms and steam discussion to no help. The game launches, and works just fine, it is just way slower than it used to be. Running on Win10 64bit

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.


IF NEITHER OF THOSE HELP:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/EU4/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Have done a clean reinstall multiple times but did it again anyway, but didnt help. Here are the files.

Just to be clear - it changed between one day and the next with the same patch? So no game change or update? If so it has to be something external to the game.

Any better in fullScreen mode?

Does this happen right from the start of a new campaign in 1444? Or only in mid or late game, or only after playing for a period?

Are you seeing any similar issue with HOI4, Stellaris, or CK2?

Yeah with the same patch. It is probs something with the current patch cause when I rolled back to the previous patch it runs just fine.
Runs just as slow in fullscreen.
Right from the start.
CK2 and Imperator run just fine, as do my other non-pdx games I play. Its only EU4.

If it ran okay with the current patch at all, then the patch cannot be the problem ... ? Unless I've misunderstood something?

I have see such issues with stuck Windows updates trying to download and install over and over; can you check for that please?

To be clear: One evening I was playing EU4 with the current patch and the game ran just fine. The next day the game started to run reaally slow. There was no patch inbetween. I tried all the common solutions to such problems (restart steam/pc, clean reinstall & file verification etc.), when those didnt work I tried some solutions I found on steam forums for EU4, those didnt work either. I tried Crusader Kings 2 and Imperator and they both ran (and still do) just fine. Then I tried to downgrade EU4 to the previous patch and the game ran as normal. After that I made my forum post.

SOLUTION: Okay so I noticed that there was a manchu multiplayer beta or something like that patch to be downloaded. Patched to that and now the game runs just fine.

I understood that, which is why I could not follow your conclusion that the patch was the problem.

I don't have any info on how that MP beta differs from 1.29.2 (very unusual!) but I'm glad it helped you, regardless!
