I would propose an additional Game rule setting for the Sunset Invasion DLC.

I do like the DLC in general, but as it's very a historical, I wish it wouldn't have happen every game.
I know that I can turn it off in the Game rule setting, but I don't want to do that. You know it's not going to happen.

It would be fun if you could give a chance for happening in a play trough. (Always, once every 3 games, once every 5 games, once every 10 games, Never)
When you start a game, you will not know if the event chain will start or not.
Keeping you in fear for something that might not come or just will happen as you don't expect it anymore.

Honestly if they implemented this I might actually finally buy it. It would be an interesting diversion if it was unpredictable and only happened occasionally, but I would rather not have to decide that at the start of the game. Immortality is fun too as a change of pace every once in a while, but I am glad I don't get it every run.

@Castimirr That's whole idea behind it, The unpredictability makes it fun. I've made a basic personal mod, that does this for me. Since then I have the DLC always enabled.

@Fitzjacob The Mongols are historical, so somehow you want them to happen.

Sure, I certainly play with them on in almost all cases but seeing as you can already turn them off (although at the loss of achievements) I'd see no point in withholding the option extended to the Aztecs in your proposal. Especially if you're playing as Western Xia (is impending doom on its way or not?) or a Mongol nomad (will I be able to unite the steppes and become Genghis Khan before some off map Temüjin guy beats me to it). Of course game rule hindering Genghis Khan from invading shouldn't be achievement compatible.

I like the concept, but I think that a better way to go about the randomness of this idea would be to have a hidden variable that rolls when the game starts to determine if the Sunset Invasion will happen in that campaign.

This could be a global tag. When the game starts, "sunset_chance" rolls and it is a 50/50 chance of happening at the selected time in the game rules.

The new rule, however, could just be "Unpredictable Sunset Invasion"

What I would personally like is the Aztec Empire splintering via an event chain.
Like some generals snatching their own kingdoms, the Aztec empire getting their DOOM, religious civil war because the eastern protectorate converts to a local religion and secedes, etc.

I love the randomize Aztec event idea.
