I've had this on another save of mine.

By 1613 they were in Vienna and Moscow. I'm sorry but this is just insanely stupid and ruins the game. If they become very big, like they did in real life, I don't have a problem. But there needs to be some mechanism, like say the Dutch Revolts, hardcoded into the game, which nerfs them later on. If it's Balkan independent movements or whatever I don't mind, but they need to be faced down.

It's fine and fair to say they were the dominant power in 1400-1600s but eventually they were beaten. In both my last two France saves, they had over 350k men before 1600s. How am I supposed to keep up with that? And "ally rivals" doesn't work because they kill all their rivals.

Sorry but Paradox messed up big time here. The Ottomans need to be nerfed late in the game.

It already exists, there is the janissaries event which nerf them. Also, their tech group is Anatolian so they become weaker and weaker with the game.
I often have no pain to beat them in late as their army just suck at some point.

That's not my experience.

Fine, I've had a number of games on the new patch so I'll be fair.

IF Austria gets a PU over Hungary and it's early, then the Ottomans can struggle if alliances doesn't work out for them and they attack the Mamluks.

However, if that does not happen and they're able to eat Anatolian minors with ease, by then they'll usually be strong enough to easily win their next wars against Hungary/Poland/Lithuania/Mamluks and by then there's absolutely no stopping them. They can quite easily end up owning everything from Persia to Vienna and in my case even Krakow.

My point is, every single historical nation by and large sticks to their home region in EU4 however strong they get, except for the Ottomans who look to expand everywhere. It's just ridiculous. I've never seen Castile/England/France/Ming/Russia try and take over the world, only the Ottomans try and do that. And there's no mechanism to stop them doing so...

It ruins the game, completely.

the ottomans don't expand "anywhere" this patch,

all AI almost never fabricate claims with spynetwork anymore, meaning noone really expands apart from mission claims.

Ottomans tends to ally someone in the east that blocks their expansion, They usually don't even seriously beat the Mamluks.

Ottomans used to eat half HRE to the west, into India in the east, into Ethiopia and beyond and south, and into PLC into North on patch 1,17.

They don't anymore.

My save says otherwise. The PLC are almost non existent, the Ottomans share a border with Russia in mainland border and they've just started eating modern Croatia. How would they do this if not for the AI fabricating some kind of claim? They've gone to war with multiple Catholic countries with no coalition forming. It's a bit of a joke...Their income is over 270 ducats a month, no one else even comes close. They can just keep eating everyone if they want.

That's normal.

First, the AI almost never lets itself get a meaningful coalition in the first place; only if it gets a ruler with the characteristic that makes the AI ignore AE are you likely to see an AI country get a coalition.

Second, Lucky Nations get -25% AE Impact (and if you happen to play on VH, all AIs get -33%, which given the subtractive nature of AE Impact stacking makes for some pretty crazy situations, especially once idea groups come into play).

Is it normal for you that the Ottomans occupy everything from Karkow to Northern Italy in Europe?

I don't know. I'm usually playing them.

(Also, CK3 has persuaded me that the "EU5 nao plz" crowd are correct, so I'm probably not going to play again.)

I honestly have more trouble with the galley spam than the army if they get big. As the likes of Austria you are essentially locked out of warscore.

Until you conquer it all, you should get plenty of warscore from the Balkans and Constantinople.

But if you need to invade Anatolia, half the time the AI lets you cross if you pay attention. Otherwise you can just go around the Black Sea
