To minimize spammish (from non-gaming visitors) I think is one major reason. That alone is a plus for me.
I can't, because I don't have the game. I have to wait till October when i can get a computer that plays the game.
I don't understand why the AAR and modding forums are off-limits. I can understand the tech, but not the AAR.
As far as I know, you still have read-access to them. You wouldn't need write access without actually owning the game anyway.
Additionally, it's a pretty effective spam-prevention mechanism.
Of course I can read them, I just can't comment (or start threads in the regular Victoria II forum).
after registration it takes a while until you can post in the main forum when you are not registered to stop spam bots.

i think you have to register your game to post on the subforums.
it will protect you by duplicate game and it will be copy right for you only.
Okay, what's up? I've got a perfectly valid product key and it won't count it valid. I can PLAY THE GAME. I downloaded it off of Amazon.
What game, and from which distributor? Assuming 1/ you have a forum registration code and not some kind of installation code, 2/ you are entering it in the right field and 3/ you haven't mistaken a 0 for a O or a 1 for an I , you should log a ticket here.
It's okay, I had at least two misspellings.... I couldn't get to the original copy-and-paste activation key when I tried registering, so I just went ahead and posted.
