Game reboots pc [Windows 10]

I am trying to play FTG again after so many years but I ran into a huge problem.

If I start the game I can pick a nation and play for a few months of in game time but inevitably the PC just reboots. It's definitely FTG that's a problem. I didn't install anything strange, just the 1.3 beta patch.

It never happens with any other game either so definitely not a hardware problem.

I tried Darkest Hour and HoI2 and they work fine.

e.g. do not install the game in C:\Programs... unless you want to give the game administrator rights to be able to run
or check that in the folder scenarios a subfolder save games has been created - if not manually create it

The exact OS is WIndows 10 Home 64bit?

The contents of your settings.txt look how? e.g. these are mine:

If all that has been cleared try to set the compatibility options of Windows 10 for FtG. FtG was created back when Windows XP was modern so Windows 10 has to pretend not to know some stuff that FtG has no idea about:

1. Gog / Windows 10 Pro
2. Yes, the patch was downloaded straight from that post.
3. The same sans resolution which is set to x=1920 y=1080
4. I tried compatibility with windows xp, 16 bit colors and admin priviliges.

I think I might have to set up some kind of a system log or something. I'll also try to reinstall it again and try out if 1.2 works. I think it might have something to do with my graphics card maybe as that would make sense.

I was kind of afraid it might be a problem specific to my hardware/software and stuff as it's not reported by anyone else for any europa engine game.

Yup, something went wonky with the installation. It works now. I will try to install 1.3 beta and see if it still does. Thread can be closed now.

I'm terribly sorry for the bother, I just never thought it could be a corrupt installation twice in a row.

There have been a few reports of graphical problems, and this might be related. Perhaps modern drivers no longer run DirectDraw correctly all the time. Glad it worked out for you though.
